What teams even have cap space remaining? Is it just the Nets? I feel like they’re in full tank mode and just drafted a bunch of young guards. I don’t really see why they’d want him.

Morey's hands are tied until they come to an agreement with Grimes.

Using the tax MLE hard caps them at the 2nd apron, so unlike now, you'd have a limit on the amount you'd be able to match, which could open up an opportunity for another team to swoop in.

Hope I'm wrong, but our current 3 star core is in shambles and we are throwing around title aspirations? Relax.

100% agree. My focus is on the moves Morey makes toward '26-'27 and beyond.

I would argue that the best shot we had was the full Harden year, where we were a legitimate contender. Hell, we had the mighty Celtics down 3-2 with game 6 at home.

I don't think it's any coincidence we let a 29 yr old Yabu walk for a 24 yr old Watford. Tyrese still isn't even 25. Most of our team is going to be at or entering their primes as that Clippers pick comes up. Grimes at 24 yrs old and on a sub 20 mil a yr deal (where I think he lands) would be a huge trading chip.

And everyone stay honest here; if Morey overpaid just to get it done sooner; you know we'd all be freaking out that we overpaid yet again when the market was in our favor.

Morey is playing this correctly.

It's just not fun.

About Grimes situation, i think we have a lot of leverage... This year almost no team can pay him what he wants ( 20-25 milions). And if he goes with the QO, hes kinda screwed, because he will compete with VJ for playing time, and probably wont have any priority since it will be Philly interest to sign him for the lowest amount next year.

Besides that, he wont put the nice stats he had last season, since we wont be tanking, and probably will have the full team, so his stats will be worse. So if he doesnt take our 15 milion offer this year, theres a good chance that he wont have this offer next year. Its a risky move for him.

If Grimes signs the QO this year, do the Sixers have his Bird rights?

If not, then it seems very unlikely they can sign him next offseason which could screw the Sixers even if Grimes makes a mistake and earns less. I think they would almost have to try to trade him by the deadline unless they felt they were a real contender if Embiid finds a couple Senzu beans.

Hear me out and I'm not even joking: Ben Simmons

He'd be a fantastic fit as our starting 4, surrounded by four shooters. Defensively, he'd be a great fit, being able to guard 4s from both small ball and traditional lineups. And offensively, he could play that point forward role with everyone else playing off-ball, even Embiid.

My best hope is that Harris (or whoever in ownership is actually involved with the team) told Morey “don’t make any major moves because if things don’t turn around you’re gone”. Letting Morey rebuild the disaster that he created would be insanity.

Morey has "had his hands tied" every offseason he's been here it feels

these are problems of his own creation

the IDEA of Ben is exactly what we need and in a Disney Fantasy World it would be a perfect ending so to speak to the story...

but the reality is just not there. 1. He's cooked physically. That speed and lateral movement that made him a problem in the open court is gone. 2. Its not about the jumper but rather his fear of free throws and finishing period (which ties into the first point). 3. I don't believe him when he says he wants to come back and honestly if only for the mental side of things...its not good for him either. 4. He still sees himself as a PG...1 to 3 of my points says he's not and he never was.

so yeah all of what you said is true but I don't think the Ben Simmons in 2025 is capable or even willing of doing that sadly.

How can we get Josh Giddey?

Giddey would be perfect. It would allow Maxey to play off the ball, something Morey has said they would like to do. Giddey rebounds and would give us size in the backcourt. Since all 3 RFAs are still unsigned, I'm hoping Morey can somehow pull this off. Losing Grimes would be well worth it.

Clarification: the Big 3 RFAs out there are Kuminga, Giddey, and Grimes.

I don't see us doing a S&T for anyone as it immediately hardcaps us.

Don’t expect any big splashes. I think the absolutely biggest move they would make is some kind of a trade for PJ Washington.

I don't see it. As others stated, in a perfect Hollywood, Hoosier type film this would be awesome. "Starring Taron Edgerton as Nick Nurse!"

Hell No! We are witnessing a culture change (or so it seems). Simmons is never available, his attitude is garbage, and you just never know if he's gonna go awol on you. I like Simmons. I hope he finds peace...And a job in the NBA next year, but we can't go back down that road.
