If they were not willing to give up the nets 2016 pick, there is no way in hell they would trade the 2017 pick or 2018 plus Bradley. We need to lower expectations.spikeslovechild wrote:sixers238 wrote:If it's a trade with Boston, I want Avery + 2018 BOS-BKN pick. Noel makes their defense ELITE. I do that deal. Said either the BKN 2017 pick or 2018 + Bradley earlier.
At this point though I'd be willing to take less. I want him gone

how about lowering expectation to no trade with Boston? that boat has sailed. and as Brand says, Noel doesn't exactly hold the cards here. he did seem to back down some today. he'll compete with the other guys, and we'll see how this all falls out. a lot can happen between now and the trade deadline.

Feel bad, the kid's 22 years old, not a surprise he'd struggle. Plus he's in a contract year, so asking him to be third string is a rough deal.
Re: trades, I could see us doing Bradley for Noel/Stauskas straight up. Smart straight up for Noel or Okafor. Or Rozier/1st or Rozier/Olynyk. I like some of those deals more than others, I don't know what our FO is thinking, but that seems like the range of possible deals.

Considered everything, Marcus Smart for Noel is a reasonable trade.
marcus smart is busted I'd rather just trade him for picks.
Picks from one of these play-off hopeful teams is my primary option.
Boston isn't going to trade Smart for mid to late first round picks or Noel for a Brooklyn pick just as Philly isn't going to trade Noel for Rozier and Olynyk. Noel's salary hurts Boston's chances at signing a max player going forward. Smart also shot 33% from three his rookie season, I don't think Boston's giving up on him shooting a couple % points higher than that to hit the league average and despite Smart's outside shooting he's still second in the draft class in vorp and bpm. I would suggest either something around Okafor for the 2018 Brooklyn pick + or Noel for Bradley and another small asset. Getting the two teams fans to remotely agree on a trade though might be impossible.

I like Olynyk as a role player, but the Sixers can't take back any big men in a Noel/Okafor trade. Sweeteners should come from draft picks, and not players.
If the Celtics would do Smart for Noel I would expect that we would do it. In a vacuum I would want more for him, but we could do a lot worse. That would legitimately improve both teams.
It would improve the Celtics more. I would HAVE to expect that Ainge knows that adding Noel would make them a serious threat to go to the finals, and if he isn't willing to trade Smart or Bradley for him then he is nuts. They have too many guards.

Nerlens seems to have added some weight. Which is good news.

Forgot we have Ante Zizic, too, I could see him appealing as a replacement big man who's years away, plus someone like Rozier or Hunter/1st..

May I know what are the things the guys you mentioned are good at? Sounds like names of custom players in NBA 2K

Re: Where is Nerlens?
Rozier I thought we talked about, I can get a link to his summer league highlights in a minute, there was just one posted on our board. R.J. Hunter is a 6'5 shooting guard, sort of athletic, theoretically a good shooter, but had an underwhelming rookie year. Zizic was a Euro pick for us in the draft, not sure who I'd compare him to. Maybe the younger Plumlee? A nice center prospect, young enough he could surprise, but more of a rim-running defender than an offensive prospect like Jokic. Or there's Yabusele, who's a really intriguing Euro. I'm guessing one or both of those would save a lot of face for Colangelo...

Colangelo is too handsome for saving face. Probably the most handsome GM in the league.

If the 76ers had gotten the 2nd pick in 2015 and picked D'Angelo Russell, Noel would still be looking at being a back up center to a health Embiid correct? He's only hope of becoming the full time starting center for this team was Embiid not being healthy, correct?
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way. (Marlo)

Noel is disappointing about the current situation. I can not blame him for that, but he has to face the fact that there's a possibility were going to start the season with the same roster. He has to work his ass of to prove he's a better player than Okafor and Embiid, that way he'll get a max or near max contract next year. If not from us, he'll get it somewhere else.

Embiid hasn't played an official basketball game in almost three years. He's not going to set one foot on the floor and dominate the entire NBA like some of us here expect him to do. Noel enters his 3rd year of actual playing in the NBA, that advantage will help him short term in comparison with Embiid.
In the long run we all hope there is not even a discussion who the better player is, but this season Noel will probably be a better and more consistent player than Embiid. So no, in my opinion Noel should be a starter on opening night if he stops the whining.
Noel - Simmons - Covington/Saric - Henderson - Bayless

Re: Where is Nerlens?
I think Noel wants to be payed, this is his main concern with the frontcourt logjam.
What I have not yet figured out is if he wants to go out from th Sixers or if he wants that Okafor will be traded.
In other words: is he invested with the team (as long as he is payed of course) or he is tired after 3 losing years and he prefer to reboot his career away from Philly?

Title of movie: Paid in Full
Frontcourt jam and the team with it's defensive gem as per BB, Embiid, lowers his chance to be paid in full.

We do not want or need big men. Period.
If you like Rozier so much then he should get more minutes if you trade Smart or Bradley for a big man. Rozier is a throw in type, and not a player that anyone seeks to trade for.
When it comes down to it, if the Sixers take under value for Noel, it isn't going to be from the Celtics. They would send him out west before they would send him to a division rival.

This is clear.
But what I can't figure out is: paid in full ANYWHERE or paid in full in Philly? What is like his priorities' list?
1. Paid in full. OK
After that: would he agree to be paid in full in this situation (3 starter caliber C) or not?
I'm not thinking what is the best for the team, I'm trying to understand his priorities.
We have just seen that Saric's priority was not to be paid in full, for example.
But Noel?

I agree. I think the issue is some fans continue throwing out trades like the nets 2017 for Noel which we all know is not going to happen. We then proceede to discuss which guard prospect is going to be taken with that pick. It's jut a waste of time. No team is going to trade a potential high lottery pick for Noel given his contract status. Now that's not to say the sixers could not get a good return if they decide to move him.rzzzzz wrote:Chuck-Cheese wrote: If they were not willing to give up the nets 2016 pick, there is no way in hell they would trade the 2017 pick or 2018 plus Bradley. Sixers fans delude themselve by suggesting a Nets pick, but Celtics fans delude themselves by suggesting Rozier.
If the Celtics are going to get Noel it will have to be for Smart or Bradley. That is completely reasonable, and if we can't get that much than we can trade with a team out west.
