It will be a very Sixer thing to do if we don't give them Rivers now, live trough another early playoff exit and fire him next season.

I think it's all money dependent. If Lakers are willing to trade for him, Rivers is gone. If not, he's back next year.

I mean, this feels like it up to Doc lol. If he wants to leave, then he’s gone whether we trade him or not. We might be able to swing a deal but unless Doc’s contract is unusually strict I assume he can just void the contract and accept a new role with the Lakers.

I hope this is the case.

If Im the Sixers, I’d ask for a boat load of cash to pay for Brett Brown’s salary, Elton Brown’s salary and our future coach’s salary as compensation for Doc. This is from business standpoint

Josh Harris: "Glenn, think of all the praise you will get in the media if you win with the Lakers! Meanwhile, even when you win it's just misery for you here. Please, go to greener pastures. We understand your need for greater opportunities and don't want to hold you back."

Actually, Joshua isn't the one who would say to Glenn. Too spineless. I dont think Morey, either. Maybe Rubin or Blitzer?

Read on Twitter

So Rivers stays. If the Sixers lose next year in semis, he’s fired, no excuses.

Good news, no more Doc to Lakers speculation. Now everyone can shut up about it.

Not to me. He’s a good coach and none of the names mentioned as replacements are definitively better. Replacing him with Cassell is an absurd notion. No one has any clue how good or bad he’d be. At least we know Rivers is fine enough and you can do a lot worse. That counts for something in the NBA where if you have good talent, you can win titles as long as your coach isn’t horrible, which Rivers is not.

Morey is the one who should be all eyes on, not the coach. Get better talent and maybe you’d go farther in the playoffs.

Doc annoys me, but not having this hanging over their head all off season is a positive. Maybe now we can have some normalcy around this team for once.

You can easily flip that argument on its head.

Morey is hamstrung by the lack of assets left by his predecessors while Glenn needs to be able to think outside the box and maximize the talent he has, which he certainly does not.

Disagree. Morey decided to go all in for Harden. If that doesn't work out and he had other deals on the table, then that's on him. And he was brought in to make chicken salad out of chicken ****. If he can't do that, then he's useless.

Also, I disagree Rivers didn't maximize his talent. Embiid had his two best years, Maxey got exponentially better, Harris settled into a new role once Harden arrived. It certainly was not his fault in the playoffs. It's hard to maximize anything when your best player is hurt and can't do nearly as much as he's used to doing and your second best player can't get by anybody.

It's not Rivers' responsibility to make a non championship roster a championship roster. How about building a championship roster? Morey sat on his ass and did nothing during the summer. An offseason of Niang and Drummond is totally unacceptable coming off a colossally disappointing playoffs.

they both have gotten by on "well...**** was **** up before I got here...so there"

no more excuses.

Ben is gone so Mr. Locker Room Guy Doc...needs to put in work.

Ben is gone and Harden is here...so Mr. Wizard needs to work his magic

There's no doubt that this off season (up to next year's trade deadline) will determine Morey's legacy here, and next season had better be the same for Glenn - the Finals or sayonara.

Lol, I mean, that's completely unverified. But he is right about Doc living off one championship he won with 3 (possibly 4 if Rondo sneaks in) Hall of Famers. I don't think he maximizes talent at all.

Just wish we had somebody in the fo with the capability to find a Nurse, Sploestra or Stevens (or Udoka). None of them were proven but all had immediate success.
