Re: Playoffs!?
Of course there is failure in sports. What an unintelligent answer. Giannis clearly in his feelings.
If the reporter's objective was to get a promotion and he worked solely towards that goal for 12 months, not coming remotely close is a failure.
This is an aging core with the (supposedly) best player on the planet. Everything they do should be in service of winning a championship. They've had their character building playoff exits and years of team development. A first round exit under those circumstances is a professional failure, period.
Doesn't mean that Giannis is a failure. It means that everything they worked for this year was.
Unless Giannis wants to also claim that they didn't intend to make a deep playoff run this year.

Re: Playoffs!?
Listening to a podcast that suggested the Bucks fire Bud & hire Nick Nurse. That would be a huge upgrade imo & would make me more fearful of the Bucks next year.

Top 5 teams on defense in reg season not doing well in playoffs compared to top 5 teams on offense. Defense is easier to switch up. Offense you can’t fake.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Re: Playoffs!?
I'll be brave and say it.
If the Sixers lost to the Nets in 5, it would be a huge failure.

I think its moreso that most regular season defenses have exploitable gaps that get exposed in the playoffs. Gobert's Jazz teams were the poster boys of this. Playoff scouting is next level and you can implement things on the fly against the same opponent.
That being said the Bucks were a team that got lit up a lot despite their defensive rep. The Cavs died moreso on offense.

Yes. And in the initial Sixers vs Nets thread there were people who said they'd rather face the Heat than the Nets. The Nets, who were thrown together in February and finished the season with a sub .500 record since the trades with little to no playoff experience across the roster.
I am never high on our Sixers, definitely tend to be almost always pessimistic, but I even said Sixers sweep. Heat might've taken us down.

Just after the first round of play in games, people were trashing the Heat saying "poor Jimmy Butler stick with this crappy Heat team." It wouldn't surprise me at all if the Heat get all the way to the conference Finals.

I’m still calling out LloydFree to reply me on the comment I made when I was furious the Sixers FO did not offer Jimmy a full max.
And he was telling me Butler is not worth it

Re: Playoffs!?
Donovan Mitchell getting exposed is a big takeaway for me from round 1. Yet another time he’s leading an analytical darling team that fails way too early. End of the day, it’s gonna be nearly impossible to build a contender around a 6’1” SG who has subpar playmaking skills.
Maxey’s ceiling might be Donovan Mitchell given his scoring talent & lack of size. That works better next to a big PG like Harden who can run the offense and at least has the size to guard 2s & 3s.

Why? The Knicks are gonna destroy them in the glass, just like the Hawks did. Their bench is also miles better.
Unless Butler average 40 from here on i don't see how they win.
Heat have Spo, Red hot Butler, Bam, Lowry and Love contributing
So a great coach and a bunch of seasoned vets, it’s their best iteration since the bubble with the Crowder/Olynyk tandem
Knicks are just making up the numbers whereas this one is a threat.
Why wasn't that taken into account when Embiid struggled ?..

Didn't they suck up until the last 2 weeks though? Worst offensive team during the regular season to make the playoffs.
On paper they still stink.
Jimmy is just something else in the playoffs.

Re: Playoffs!?
In the exact same press conference, Giannis says this:
Were they though? Weren't they just taking steps towards success? Now he's making it seem like they fell well short of a goal.
They were playing to beat us and we were playing to win a championship

Re: Playoffs!?
I think the problem with Cleveland was that they acquired Donovan Mitchell and didn't need to. I think having him took a ton of development away from Darius Garland. It showed in the playoffs because Mitchell became so ball dominant that Garland was basically an afterthought the majority of the time. I'm in no way taking anything away from Mitchell as a player, I just think they ended up with two guys who basically do the same exact thing and that has never worked in this league. I would not be surprised in the slightest if one of them is moved in the offseason. The pairing between those two is not ideal from what I've seen.
I also think that both Jarrett Allen and Mobley were big time underachievers in the series against New York. They basically just got bullied by both Randle and Robinson. That New York frontcourt is a big, strong, physical tandem and both Allen and Mobley got moved right out of the way the whole time. I think Mobley gets a pass because he's still pretty much a kid at this point and he's going to get stronger, and better. I'd still take him over a lot of bigs in this game. Allen on the other hand has no excuse. He's a vet getting paid a lot of money to man the middle. He's been an all star and yet played as if he doesn't even belong in a 10 man rotation.

Be careful of blaming other players too much, in a week or two we may have some of our players being in front of that list.

At least if Giannis goes elsewhere, Bucks fans can take solace he brought them a championship.

Re: Playoffs!?
I’m so hyped for the Knicks/Heat series. Bring back some of the late 90s rivalry and two absolute dawgs in Jimmy Butler & Brunson going back & forth. It’s gonna be awesome to watch.

Re: Playoffs!?
No 1 seed vs the 8 seed. The 8 seed lost its first play in game and was super close to elimination in their second play in game.
The 1 seed, on their home turf, with a 16 pts lead going into the 4th and a fully healthy squad the features 2-3 all stars, got knocked out by the 8 seed which was missing two key rotation players.
No, that’s not a FAILURE.
I would argue that’s one of the biggest failure for any team that has championship aspirations.

Lowry and Love have been contributin for 5 games, sorry if i doubt them.
All of that it doesn't matter either if the other team has 10 or 15 extra possessions
Call me surprised but what makes you think that’s going to happen? Bucks literally smash boards all day but it didn’t make a difference.
They have the more talented, seasoned and better coached team that’s the opposite of dysfunction. I don’t see it even going past 6 (gentlemen sweep most likely)
Spo especially and a butler led team don’t f around.

Knicks/Heat should go 6, possibly 7 games. Then again, Miami is rolling right now. It's so cool seeing a lower seeded team advance. I'm hoping Atlanta can pull off a miracle next. Can't forget about a possible Steph/LeBron second round matchup.

No?
The Bucks had 14 more offensive rebounds than the Heat for the entire series, that's around 3 per game. The Knicks had 29 more rebounds than the Cavs, around 6 per game, it's double the effect.
The Hawks got 22 offensive rebounds on the Heat on the play in, i repeat 22 offensive rebounds.
I also doubt the Heat is more talented than the Knicks outside of Butler and Bam, and the size means Randle/Toppin are gonna have a mismatch advantage at any time on the floor because Bam is gonna have to cover Robinson.
The Knicks bench is better too
