Jonathan Isaac has played 70 games this year. I don't care what Jokic does, that's the most shocking stat in the 2024-25 NBA season.

I'm sure this won't haunt the Pelicans like it did the Pistons for a decade after his firing.

Orlando is crazy if they don't pursue LaMelo this summer. He's basically everything they're missing.

Anthony/KCP/Howardtwo 1sts for LaMelo

LaMelo/Black
Suggs/Harris
Wagner/Da Silva
Banchero/Isaac
Carter/Wagner
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Grimes/Edgecombe/Gordon
Oubre/Edwards
George/Watford/Barlow
Embiid/Bona/Drummond/Broome

I'm sure plenty of teams could beat that poo poo platter of an offer. I'd certainly pay more than that to get LaMelo.

I think he'll be less attractive to a lot of teams because of his injury history and inability to make Charlotte a winner.

Orlando could always throw in more 1sts, but I don't think he'll be traded for one of those "four 1sts and multiple swaps" packages.

I agree that Orlando should be all in on LaMelo.

The offer would have to be more something like Isaac/Black/KCP/4 1sts though.

Because you have to convince CHA to move on, and he's still their franchise player.

Still can't believe we have this play-in garbage.

If the NBA wanted to actually increase viewership, make it 12 playoff teams instead of 16 + "4". Or make the season 62 games. Teams would actually take the regular season more seriously instead of the huge lull that happens every year now. 1 vs. 8 was already pointless sans the few historical upsets.

Anyone watching the Mavs vs. Kings game? Dallas’ frontcourt size is really exposing Sabonis.

My ultimate issue with guys like Sengun and eventually Queen too.

If you're an undersized C and can't space you'd better be one of the very best defenders in the league and switchable.

For me, if you’re an undersized big or not projected to be a strong defender, you need to be elite scorer, like Zion or KAT.

To reach that level, you need a go-to scoring option that consistently gives you around 1.05-1.10 points per shot (enough to match a perimeter player’s 3pt stepback volume). Jokic has his floater, Giannis or Zion finishes at the rim at will, KAT’s 3pt shooting and peak Embiid had that deadly midrange. Then you’ve got stretch bigs and elite lob threats.

But it’s incredibly hard to get there without freakish length to finish over longer defenders or elite touch that lets you shoot like a guard or wing.

The Mavs built their team to punish small centers. Their bread and butter is having a guard collapse the defense and throw lobs to Gafford or Lively, something Sabonis just doesn’t have the size to consistently defend.

On offense, the Kings are relying heavily on Sabonis as a playmaker, especially without a true playmaking guard on the floor. But Sabonis doesn’t generate enough gravity, and the Mavs’ length is cutting off his vision and passing lanes, making it tough for him to orchestrate.

Kings is just at their best playing against the Warriors. They were not designed to win the championship but to just simply win playoff or play-in matches against the Warriors.

Mavs running invert PnR with AD as the ball handler and Klay as the screener. Once AD gets to the paint, and Lively is ready to catch the lob if his defender helps.

How can you defend that if you have Sabonis and Keegan at 4&5 positions

The Mavs could’ve been a really fun team if they stayed healthy:

Kyrie
Klay
Naji
AD
Lively

Even without that, just holding on to Grimes and letting him run point while Kyrie’s out would’ve made a big difference.

100% agree, but you can never forget the golden rule of policy changes in pro and big time college sports, which to my knowledge has never been broken:

No rule or policy change will ever take place where revenue enhancement or protection (the "safety" measures) is not the primary, and quite often the only priority. Policy changes that negatively affect revenue are automatic non-starters.

This eliminates the possibility of ever shrinking the playoffs, shortening the season, or eliminating idiocy like "all star weekend" as long as media outlets and advertisers are willing to keep ponying up stupid money for the "rights" to this stuff. And as far as owners giving up gates to shorten the regular season - fat chance. That's why the slithery snake Silver was throwing out the idea to shorten the games themselves as a "solution" to load management and the overlong season.

Someone should do something about this social arrangement where everything is organized around private ownership and the pursuit of profits above all else.
