I can't remember a time when I was split 50/50 on the #1 overall pick and who it should be. I really like both these guys and would be fine with either one. This WOULD be difficult though because we are picking first. Any other year and the #1 pick is a clear cut choice, but nope...Not this year, and this will certainly create an insane amount of bickering over who the #1 pick should be...Ahh just what we need, more arguing.

A lot better than us all bickering between Dunn and Murray though.

Agree man. I'm so so torn on the 2.

I would take the one with the highest floor ... Ingram

Or Simmons would really show some sort of jump shooting ability.

I'm with you, but tbh, it's going to be extremely hard to choose. Even a top flight Scout/GM could be puzzled with this decision.

Both are young and have extremely high upside but are also totally different types of prospects.

1 kid could be a LeBron James like do it all stud or a Lamar Odom like point 4.

The other could be a Kevin Durant like wing or Otto Porter/Tayshuan Prince like wing.

one thing to note is that Ingram is a year younger than Simmons.

Def something to consider...but it's not the end all be all. Both are still pretty young (under 20) and only played 1 year of college basketball.

At the end of the day, you take whoever you think can develop into a franchise changing, star player.

Can Ingram improve his body/strength, and develop into a go to lead scorer? Will he have the handle, first step and killer instinct to beat guys consistently 1-1 to dominate the game at times? Can he be a KD/Paul George like 2-way star wing ?

Can Simmons develop a jump shot? Can he become a legitimate perimeter scorer like LeBron? Does he have the competitive edge to lead a team? Can he become a 2-way franchise player or is he simply a guy who's stats are bigger than his actual impact?

You know what's going to happen right?

If we draft Ben Simmons he'll just sign with the Lakers after 3 years. He has such a hard on for them. Even Adrian Wojnarowski said Simmons camp is "Lakers or Bust".

Image

He's a freaking a diva who already have a film crew following him and documenting everything he does in his freshman year in LSU.

People say Ingram is like a Durant, but he also has that humble Durant personality from North Carolina.

I'm more concerned that the Sixers didn't pick up a team option on Simmons, than that he signed with the Lakers after that happened.

Simmons is more of a diva, I had been hearing reports of how him and his camp were wanting LA.
Someone had him on snapchat before the season saying he wants to go to lakers.
I deff. think he would be bitter despite being selected number one just knowing LAL is picking number 2.
I don't think Philly having more pieces means anything to Simmons, I feel the allure of LAL with Kobe gone is
on his head.

Unlike Ingram who I feel would be happy and more accepting of the situation.
Then again this is just my 2 cents, Philly still needs to draft best avaliable
Problem is there's no clear cut one like Towns,
IT's probobly Simmons but Ingram is right up there.

Even if LA had the pick I don't think it would be a clear cut answer of simmons or ingram.

8 out of 24 shooting (33%) wide open with no defender on him.

That was ugly.

So Simmons being a bad jump shooter was not exaggerated at all. Even I had no idea it'd be that bad.

I really LOVE Brendan Ingram. The more I think witch one of them i would want in a Sixers jersey, the more I want Ingram. Both players can be superstars, and there is a great chance that both will be. Ingram main advantages to me are: defense, shooting, he's younger and I see more character in him. I just don't see ur main player (Simmons) without elite shooting not elite defense. You've got to have at least ONE of this two to be teams best player. And BTW I still believe Embiid is our best player no matter who we pick.

Simmons is a prodigy but I have serious reservations about his maturity and possibly his character.

I think Ingram has demonstrated more focus on basketball. I like that he is an East Coast guy.

My choice is still Ingram.
“This may be one of the best jobs in basketball right now,” Colangelo said at a press conference introducing him as the new GM of the 76ers after Sam Hinkie resigned.

I am torn and undecided. Thus, I am not voting on the poll yet.

BUT, I feel like we have to take Simmons.

IMO, Ingram has just as much upside as Simmons.

He was the 18 year old best player, and leader, as a freshman on Duke. A Duke team that had a fairly solid tourney, despite losing a bunch of players from last season. His "tape" shows a guy who is as close to Kevin Durant as anyone we have seen. His height and length makes his jumper near unguardable, and he has enough of a handle to get himself free and score in a variety of ways (which he does).

People were going crazy about Wiggins and Parker, and, IMO, Ingram looks better than both.

Yeah, he's skinny and not a great passer at this point. Kevin Durant was, and still is, skinny. Klay Thompson was, and still is, skinny. Steph Curry is skinny. Jamal Crawford was, and still is, skinny. Reggie Miller was skinny. Skinny can be a good thing in the NBA - less wear on the knees and ankles.

Take away the hype train, and look at their seasons - and you see to equal prospects - Ingram with the edge on shooting, defense, length, and intangibles, Simmons with an edge on passing, rebounding and a stronger frame. More or less equivalent athletes.

Fit wise, though, Ingram is far better. The Sixers need a lead scorer - something hard to find in the NBA. Ingram can be that guy. Sixers need more consistent shooting. Ingram does that. They need a guy who can easily mesh with Embiid or Okafor (if not traded) or Noel (if not traded). Ingram is an easy fit, opening up the court for them because no one can sag, and Ingram will quickly demand double teams.

You draft Ingram, you trade one of Noel or Okafor for a point guard (Schroeder? back into the draft for Dunn?), and you hope Embiid and Saric are what Hinkie and others hope they are. Covington can slide to the 2 with Ingram at the 3 - lacks some ball handling but between him and Ingram, and a solid PG, you'd have enough. Add a couple of vets to go with the young guys...

I also like Ingram, but the Durant comparisons are tough. Durant at Texas weighed a listed 225, and is now listed at 240. Can we really expect Ingram to put 40, or even 25 lbs on his frame? I'd bet on 15 being the upper limit. Physical development (size/strength/quickness) is the only thing that will hold Ingram back from being a franchise guy, while Simmons will be severely limited (and cause a lot of chemistry headaches) if he can't develop a decent shot. Pick your poison I guess...
