If so, I could see them pushing for Embiid this summer (as a desperate move to keep Giannis). Just not sure how they could get him though in a trade

What they really lack is a legit big. Luka thrived in Dallas because of the lob threats and rim protection of Gafford and Lively and the proliferation of 3-pt. shooters, which allowed him to pick teams apart on P&R's. The Lakers couldn't get a center at the deadline after the failed Williams trade, and have mediocre 3-pt. shooting on this roster. The T-Wolves crushed them on the boards, and figure to do that throughout the series.

They should have gone hard for Drummond at the deadline

That’s part of it. But the bigger issue is the Lakers’ inability to generate quality looks outside of Luka, they just can’t create holes that are big enough against a tough Wolves defense. This version of the Lakers feels like the Temu knockoff of the Mavs team Minnesota handled last season.

By the way, where’s Christian Wood these days? He looked like he was on the verge of a breakout at one point. Then I read he had some “bigger than life” attitude issues with the Mavs, wanted a bigger role, and his career’s been downhill ever since.

Rox running Amen-Sengun-Adams while Warriors running Butler-Draymond-Post.

doesn't want to or can't do the big man things good big men do...like rebound and protect the rim and just isn't a good enough scorer to make up for that...

It seems like he has the “Hassan Whiteside” syndrome, where he wants to play a bigger role than what he’s being asked to. If he continues down that path, he might end up out of the league.

He just need to find balance with it, similar to how Porzingis does it. Know when to just be a role player and when to know when you can be aggressive on offense. But eitherway, you need to be 100% on defense.

Rockets need Embiid.

Embiid
Maxey
Drummond

For

Sengun
Vanfleet
Jabari Smith Jr
Tari Eason

2028 Rox first
2029 PHX swap rights

Maxey
Jalen Green
Dillon Brooks
Amen Thompson
Joel Embiid

*if its too much for Rox, remove Drummond for Sixers and Eason for Rox.

When it comes to a potential Giannis trade, the concern isn’t so much about him going to the Thunder, the bigger fear is the Spurs. With their draft capital and young assets, they have what it takes to make a serious offer. A Giannis-Wemby duo would be a nightmare for the league.

Watching the playoffs again reminds me that Morey built a team for the playoffs, and why Embiid has been so dominant on the court despite his offensive output dropping a lot from the regular season.

If he is healthy and can perform on defense we absolutely should run it back. Regular season and playoffs are basically two different sports. Shots count for 2 and 3 points and everyone fouls out at 6. Not much else similar between the two games.

You'd be lucky to get Sengun and Dillon Brooks with no picks.

Which I would be fine with, honestly.

EDIT: I totally skimmed right over you threw Maxey into this

Yeah, just take some random contracts and get rid of Embiid for now.

I think I want to see a full season of Maxey, Grimes, and McCain... unless ORL wants to do Franz for Maxey.

You just won't give up until Maxey is gone, to the point of proposing taking most of the Rockets good young players and making them the "Sixers South", and even foisting Drummond on them. Nico Harrison would even laugh at that trade offer.

Another team that could have interest in Embiid is the Kings. There’s only about a $6M difference between his contract and Sabonis’, so matching salaries wouldn’t be too difficult. We’d probably just need a third team to take on Sabonis. A simplistic, and admittedly lazy, idea is a deal where Lavine and Sabonis go out for Embiid and George, with the Sixers also getting around three or more 1st round picks from the Kings.

This clipper team is hard to dislike. Kawhi putting up another legendary performance.
