According to SVG, JVG isn't interested in returning to coaching. I don't think this is the final word on Jeff returning to the sidelines but this would be a blow to our coaching search since the rumors are that the Sixers want an experienced coach to take over.

I just hope Doug Collins isn't the man for the job.

I do. Doug Collins was the one who mentored Michael Jordan and took that team to great lengths. Jackson pushed them over the top.

Collins can be that guy to develop Iguodala, develop Thad, Speights, etc. Collins has absolute knowledge of the game. How can you be against a Collins hiring?

I want Laimbeer just as much and it'd be great if Laimbeer would agree to be an assistant for the Sixers.

Collins/Laimbeer would be a great coaching staff.

TGP:

You would rather have somebody like, say, Byron Scott than Doug Collins?

I'm on board with you on Laimbeer, but it sounds like they are going to get an established NBA head coach type...and if JVG is out of the running, than who would you rather have than Collins (assuming that it is not LB)?

One step closer to, GASP! Double Willie Greens.

Doubling is just the start. By the year 2020, Willie Green will start at every position for the Philadelphia Willies (head coach - Willie Green).

avery produced with the mavs in the short time he was there. he got them to play much better defense. he even won coach of the year during his tenure there. they lost to shaq and dwade, then they lost to their former coach and avery's mentor. every experienced NBA coach not named phil, greg or jerry, is going to have some baggage. rarely mentioned is brown's fiasco in NY. anyway i hope we get a good coach for the long haul. the carousel has got to stop at some point. were working on our fourth in the post AI era. (AI's return doesn't count)

Great record, but I am bothered by the fact that he, with the more talented team, lost out specifically because he was outcoached. You mention LB in NY, that was one year in a decades-long hall of fame career under the exemplar of a horrid GM in a dysfunctional franchise. Plus, the fact that he doesn't even want to interview for it, instead he just wants a job offer, is enough to be a turnoff for me.

i'm not concerned about that. he is a young coach. I think he learned from his experiences. he is an undrafted guy who wound up having a 15 year career. He is defense oriented. He was tutored under popovich. I think he can be a good coach for the long haul. His arrogance about interviewing notwithstanding.

I would give him more of a pass on the outcoaching issue if this whole "interview" issue wasn't around. Because, to be honest, one of the major reasons he got outcoached was due to Pride. He refused to simply trust the talent on his team and wanted to show off his acumen to the detriment of the Mavs twice over. Now, he is too proud to interview for a job, like he has such a glorious resume that he should just get a multimillion dollar offer without a team even finding out what he plans to do with their roster.

I'm still not sure how I feel about LB returning... I know he could turn us around defensively, but he's so fickle with his feelings towards his personnel. I'd like to see if any other candidates step forward and express interest before committing to Larry.

I don't think we'll have much longer to wait. I don't think Charlotte goes more than 5 games against Orlando.

I find nothing redeeming in Byron Scott talking about his interest in the Chicago job, considering it is currently filled.

I hope he isn't a candidate here.

I'm putting my vote in for Eric Snow.

Well if Collins goes to NOH...and JVG isn't coaching it leaves us with a pretty slim pool considering were not looking at assistants.

Johnson/brown/frank/Scott

Ehhhh
