Re: Sixers officially exercise team option on Hollis Thompson

I have no problem with exercising his option for the paltry sum of a million for the year. It's not Thompson's fault that he has been asked at times to do more than he should, but he is a pretty good shooter with a pretty quick release. Take responsibilities away from him and just camp him behind the perimeter and he could be with Ben Simmons like James Jones has been to LeBron. Is there really much difference between those two?

While the Sixers exercised his option, Thompson is still fully unguaranteed.

All this move means is the team didn't view having him a restricted free agent this year as the best option.

Hollis was playing 28 minutes a game last year. That's just too much of a window for his holes to be exploited. I think he'll be a much more valuable player for us next year playing within a 16-20 minute spectrum.

Well, they weren't going to renounce him. They have to spend, what, 50 million to reach the salary floor.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Agreed.

He is a viable NBA role player if he can play a lot less per game.

good move by the 6ers.. as you guys mentioned cheap shooter who will be more effective in a reduced role and this will make parting with Covington easier.
Make them respond to your way of playing not the other way around

It's hard to be mad when he is like 1% of the team cap.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

Merged the3 Hollis Thompson threads that I could find that didn't debate Hollis versus Jakarr we have had over the past 3+ years.
