Were taking the best players available to us....Get them on the floor, and see who's got it and who don't. once you find out who has IT, you make moves to build around them. not vice versa.
If Embiid played last year, or was fully healthy I would understand some backlash on picking Okafor. But for all the praise Embiid's upside gets, his long term health is a SERIOUS issue. Insuring him as our foundation building block, with another elite blue chip big man is Not the bad thing.
As long as your ok with a 7-10 year rebuild.. Sure, you can draft and hope. Might be better to try and build with some resemblance of balance. The Sixers roster right now looks so far away from contention now it's not even funny. If all 3 are healthy next season, Is Noel a backup? Is he being traded? For what? What are you really going to get for Noel on the open market? Marcus Smart? I understand the take the BPA route, but I think Hinkie has been overthinking things, been too cute, and now his roster is a mess.
LOL really?? Too cute??? How is he being too cute when he goes BPA?? Thats cute? Being cute is taking a kid thats rated lower on your board just for fit
He picked a player who they didn't even work out.. I don't think they were prepared for it.
Either way, it all depends on Embiid. Even if he's healthy, you're bringing one of the bigs off the bench.. Unless you trade one for 75 cents on the dollar, which is a positive I suppose.
