Can you guys please stick to the topic which is about Okafor. I find it interesting that a thread popped up on reddit that got a lot of replies & my thread was posted and we finalyl got some tidbits on Okafor. The 76ers PR department def. keeps track with social media/forums.

And you base your diagnoses off of throwaway lines from a guy in the back seat of a limo during a Vice interview? Every time this has been reported its been that it didn't heal properly not that he rebroke it.

Because the Sixers were intentionally vague when describing what happened. "Didn't heal properly" doesn't sound as bad as "he re-broke his navicular", even though the two descriptions aren't mutually exclusive.

It is obvious that it was not re-broken because they didn't put him in an air-cast boot or cast. If it truly were re-broken it would be considered malpractice to let a guy walk around with a broken navicular.

His fracture is small and causes no discomfort or pain. He didn't even know his foot was broken when the Cleveland medical staff discovered it a week before the draft. The danger comes from leaving the fracture untreated, and Embiid doing strenuous activities that make it worse. His fracture re-opened, Embiid said it himself. Re-fractured = re-broken. Why is that so difficult to understand?

The injury wasn't discovered by the Cavs. Embiid injured it while working out a few days after he worked out with the Cavs, and he felt pain. He told his agent and they went to the hospital that day for a scan which showed the break.

Back to Okafor. I don't think that this is the first time that they said that he tweaked it during training camp. They had said that before. He obviously tweaked it since he had no pain before.

I won't doubt Woj, but I remember Embiid himself telling the story of him feeling pain and telling his agent, and then they went to the hospital and got it scanned. He said it was in a workout not with one of the teams.

Maybe it was a combination of things that they put together, but Embiid said that he felt pain.

Do you have a source for that? From what I read the fracture went totally unnoticed until the Cleveland doctors caught it.

Absolutely wrong with this bone. Any fracture must be treated aggressively immediately due to the risk of displacement and its tenuous blood supply. While it is true not every fracture requires cessation of weightbearing, this one does. There is video of him running up and down stairs in a stadium after the announcement of the complication in his healing. He did not re-break the bone, it just never fully healed. There was a discussion amongst multiple sports podiatric surgeons about whether he should play with the defect in the bone or have the revision surgery. The majority opinion was to re-operate and Embiid who initially didn't want the revision surgery because he felt fine ultimately agreed to the surgery.

Not off the top of my head, but it was early on after he was drafted. He was saying that he had been working out on his own when he felt pain, and he told his agent, and they then went to the hospital. It was after the Cleveland workout, and maybe that is when the Cavs medical staff told him that something turned up on the X-ray.

What if they are holding Okafor out to work on his body and conditioning? With the number of preseason games it's quite hard having heavy workloads while you're recovering in between two games. Brett Brown emphasizes that Okafor is lighter than ever. Perhaps they're working on his lateral movement to maximize the loss of weight, if this means a higher chance of the duo Embiid/Okafor complementing each other, I'm all in.

Both pretty big news.

This clip would seem to sum up everything positive and negative about this lineup.

Yeah those guys can't be on the court at the same time.

Also, LOL at Okafor playing D. God what a terrible pick.

They can and they will. Right now they are our 2 best players and if Embiid can be an elite rim protector Jah can defend 4s

They will find a way, offensively that is too dominant to not enforce.

The only time Jah shouldn't be at the 4 is when the other team has a star SF playing there. Melo, George, Lebron, KD, ect. Other than that let him play them tight and run them off the three point line. They can either pull up for a long 2 (be my guest) or meet embiid at the rim (have fun). Meanwhile the high low or even post with the other in the opposite corner 3 will be deadly. Jah and Joel with shoot threes this year. Run the double high screen where one rolls and one pops
