Whether Okafor gets traded is wholly separate from Noel. He doesn't want to be here. He'll make too much money to be a backup. It's time.

Derrick Rose is a loser with no passion for basketball. We don't want personalities like him in our organization.

I think his attitude would change if we were willing to pay him and there was one less guy in the rotation. If someone is willing to throw the max or near max money at him, keeping him around becomes a lot more questionable. But at say, 20M per? I'd be completely fine with that. And really, he's probably still a positive trade asset even at the max in the is cap environment. I mean, we are still talking giving up value to Bradley Beal in this very thread.

To me the Jah vs Noel question isn't an easy one.

Ignoring contract status? You keep Noel
Ignoring what you'd get back? You probably keep Jah, because the contract factor
In that case that Jah would bring you back a lot more in a deal? You pay Nerlens

I don't think Noel gets near the max. I was initially thinking something like 4-88 but it's looking like there's a massive surplus of quality bigs in the NBA right now. I'm curious how much this is going to drive demand down - it's actually pretty unfortunate for trying to find a trade. Rumors like the Kings wanting to go small and trying to shop WCS (and inevitably Cousins) makes it even worse.

I agree that demand might help to drive down Noel's price and make keeping him possible. I really think it will depend on if Okafor can play PF with Embiid. If he can (and Simmons can play more the PG role) than I really think you can keep noel and just play them as a big 3 and eat up the vast majority of your minutes that way, playing guys slightly less to keep the fresh for the year. If Okafor can't play the 4 next to Embiid then i think you move him, and keep Noel as Embiid insurance.

Last night was another example of Alex Len sucking, so PHX could certainly use Noel, which was touched on before. Or even Okafor FFS. Okafor and Bender someday could be awesome.

This can't happen until Dec. 15, but if POR and SAC still aren't playing up to expectations they might want to shake things up. I keep seeing Cousins heading to POR at some point.

PHI out: Okafor, Henderson, LAL 1st
PHI in: McCollum, Davis

McCollum/Rodriguez/McConnell
Stauskas/Bayless/TLC
Simmons/Covington/Thompson
Illyasova/Saric/Holmes
Embiid/Noel/Davis

POR out: McCollum, Harkless, Vonleh, Davis, POR 1st, CLE 1st
POR in: Cousins, Henderson, Skal

Lillard/Shabazz
Crabbe/Henderson/Connaughton
Aminu/Turner/Quarterman
Cousins/Leonard/Layman
Plumlee/Ezeli/Skal

SAC out: Cousins, Skal
SAC in: Okafor, Harkless, Vonleh, LAL 1st, POR 1st, CLE 1st

Collison/Lawson/Temple
Afflalo/McLemore/Richardson
Gay/Casspi/Barnes
Harkless/Vonleh/Tolliver
Okafor/WCS/Koufos (Pappagianis --> D-league)

Edit: Changed some pieces for salary purposes.

Why would we waive Ed Davis if we acquired him? He's on an awesome deal and was an extremely underrated player last season. He's been bad this year but it's an incredibly small sample and means little. It doesn't make sense to target him though when we have Noel.

He's not so much a target in the trade...he's moreso a contract POR would need to get rid of to make room for DMC. We could keep him but we really don't have space for him, and it would obviously be unwise to move Noel just to make room for him. I mean, alternatively, we could waive Barnes but Davis still doesn't see the floor much.

He's an asset on that contract though. We'd just trade him again if needed.

Logjam of young players at their position. Both injured.

My old Noel for Gary Harris proposal makes more sense than ever, for both teams.

This thinking is on the right track but I'm skeptical of Gary Harris' fit because of his below average 3 point shooting and defense

Never was a Gary Harris fan.

Probably move Noel for Jamal Murray, though; lack of defense and all.

I'd rather toss in the LAL pick with one of our bigs to target a player like CJM/Beal/Klay/Middleton than give them up alone for the likes of Gary Harris or Norman Powell.

SG:McLemore/Stauskas/TLC
SF:2017 LAL 1st/Covington/2017 NYK 2nd
Simmons/Saric/Holmes
Embiid/WCS/Asik

Just trying to start to fit pieces together.

Definitely don't like that first trade. McLemore is complete garbage and wouldn't be starting. We likely wouldn't even resign him. Don't see the point in trading for WCS when we can just resign Noel despite the fact that you can delay the extension decision 2 years.

I think if you're trading both Noel and Okafor, you need to come out of it with at least one solid wing or guard prospect.

All of that is fair. I happen to like Ben, though, and would start him; but I am the only one. WCS you hit the nail on the head, provides defense like Noel but puts off the extension $$ for two years. Plus I'm not an Okafor fan, so if they dumped him I would be fine with that.
