This is the point. Protect the future picks. You don't give away an imminent 1st rounder unprotected or you can wind up like the Clippers circa 2011. Any GM who signs a deal like that now, with the benefit of hindsight, should be fired before the ink is dry.

It's funny reading the thread over on the Celtics forum and then this one. Doom and gloom from both sides.

Personally I'm fine with swapping 2017 picks in addition of trading either the future Sacramento or Los Angeles pick. Anything more will make me anxious, but I like Fultz and think he's just the type of player this team needs.

I'd love to hear Hinkie's thought on this deal.

Absolutely, I think both sides are afraid of what the final deal will be and I'm in this group. Boston fans don't want to move down unless they get a Nets type of fleecing. 76ers fans are happy to grab Fultz but fear giving up both the LAL and SAC picks. Until the final deal is announced, I'll be nervous. BC doesn't have my trust yet.

That trade isn't legal I think. Can we trade our 2018 pick and 2017 pick? Wouldn't it have to be 2019?

If it wasn't for the two burned years on his rookie deal, I would too. Dlo was a better 18 year old than Markelle.

to fear both? this offer is god damn awful if ONE of them is included. im fine with phi18, because we will make the playoffs, but nothing more. bc is such a moron...it could be true its the lakers unprotected... :banghead:

Even so, I think it'd be more worth it. If we trade the Lakers pick, we could be missing out on a big time player next year.
