Simmons doesn't play, Embiid plays his best game of the season.

The game shouldn’t even been close. 44-8 run is unacceptable in this day and age. Nets don’t play defense and have no one to defend embiid. But Brett brown forget to tell Sixers and embiid to just get in the paint for a 12 min stretch.

Embiid got constantly double teamed tonight. Definitely Simmons fault due to lack of spacing.

Still had a season high in points.

Also the problem is not being double teamed, the problem is not making the double team pay. Basic basketball.

Also had a season high in minutes. You can't sustain him playing that many minutes every game... he can barely keep his body held together for 3-4 weeks at a time on less minutes.

As for the double teams I 100% agree. I have been banging on about this for over a year now... the problem isn't the fact Embiid is double teamed and I have proven over and over again most of the double teams do not come from Ben''s man.... but Ben continually is blamed for it because he doesn't shoot.

Aside from that... it should be used as as a weapon. Embiid should be happy from a team perspective that he is getting double teamed because it means someone else is wide open. Our problem is we seem to lack players that can:

1. Shoot a wide open 3 at a decent enough rate that opponents won't leave them open.
2. Have players that know how to cut to the basket apart from maybe Ben but because he is often in the 4 spot he isn't in the angle to cut anyway for a pass.
3. Joel seems to sulk whenever he cops a double team and becomes completely disinterested... or he has done for at least most of this year.

I blame a lot of that on Elton Brand and the way he has built this team... and I now blame Brett for not hammering it into Joel and every other players head... that double teams can be a good thing and that they should be using it as a way to get an easy score... or at the very least move the defense around.

These are not true hard double teams. They are the secondary defender sagging in. Joel just needs to attack quicker. Puts defenses on its feet. The sag/cheat/bating double team loses its effectiveness the quicker embiid makes a decision.

Embiid made quicker decisions especially in 2nd half. He got a ton of fouls as well.

It’s very simple. I’ve noticed this all season. Even in his 0 point game against Toronto. He’s holding on to ball too long. Wasting shot clock time. And teams like Toronto confuse embiid. Than frustration sets in and he settles for bad shots. While he shot mid range 10-15 foot well tonight. He also established low post much better.

Agree embiid was out of gas around the 35 min mark (1 min left in regulation). I thought it would affect his free throws but he was able to make 4 critical free throws down by 2 each time in last 60 seconds.

Embiid was laboring in overtime. Glad the nets decided to play iso guard ball taking bad shots to help Sixers out.

Embiid can’t play 40 minutes effectively. He’s good for 32-34 minutes. We just can’t abuse his body the next 25-26 games. He does look fresher. More in shape. But he can’t go all out 40 minutes. That’s just the way he is. We will just have to settle with that and hope his body holds up.

No Simmons and we need the best show(and an exhausted one) of the season from Joel to barely win Brooklyn Nets in overtime at home.

Well without Embiid we lost to the same Nets by 20. And lost to Orlando by 15. And lost to Dallas by 18. And lost to Dipo-less Indy by 18. And lost to the Suns as well.

I don't understand the fuzz about him and all this resting etc ...

From what I've seen from Embiid during his career now, is that he gets worse and out of shape if you rest him ...
After every prolonged injury, he needs a couple of weeks to get back into shape. He's now back into form after being already back +2 weeks after his hand injury?

And if you want to get your conditioning up, you need to go deep from time to time too.

I do a lot of cycling, and I always feel the strongest 1 week after I did a long and tiring training session where I don't feel my legs anymore.

Games like these are great to get him into better shape. And he needs to play constantly his games, also back to back.

Not always 35 + minutes, but from time to time ... no problem

Brooklyn plays us tough, there is bad blood between the two teams. Their guards give us absolute fits. It was a rivalry game and for those not paying attention, the Nets are in fact a playoff team even without Irving. Sorry if some of you expected us to win by 50, but complaining because we didn't is beyond dumb.

The players on the floor gave Embiid the spacing he needs to do his thing inside. You didn't see as many double teams as usual just guys crowding the paint and not completely leaving their man.I agree he holds the ball too long at times and muddys up the offense. He has to pass the ball out and reposition himself.

IMO we still could use a sharp thats gonna consistently make teams pay for leaving them.Jrich and Tobi are too inconsistent from 3.

That euro step on Jordan was nasty who they thought could stop him after abusing Allen 8-) . Nope not with spacing.

That’s why dominant big men can never win another mvp. They got rid of illegal defense. So easier to defend bigs with crowding the paint.

Embiid just has to make a move faster. Make decisions faster.

And without Embiid we also beat Brooklyn another time with Ben putting up 34/12/12/5/2 and beat the Lakers handily with Ben putting up 28/10/8/4

Only **** fans try to turn the convo into Embiid vs Simmons when one or the other plays well

Brooklyn definitely plays us with a little pep in their step, and it makes sense considering we eliminated them last year. Then there's the NYC/Philly rivalry. Nets are like the feisty little brother who is about to hit his growth spurt real soon. So yeah, this is pretty much the expectation with playing the Nets. Their guards play so hard against us.

Not if it's true. The all star game reinforced his instincts, just like the 20-4 lead his first game back. Only one guy who can stop him.

Just wanted to hear some thoughts on Embiid self proclaiming he's the best player in the world.

Does everyone agree?
