The one that actually surprised me from the chart is Aaron Gordon being such a negative on defense since he’s supposed to be their defensive ace.

It's a pretty meaningless amount of data at this point, particularly for this kind of all encompassing type of stat.

Maxey should be the 6th man like Herro and Poole on this team. He fits that role perfectly and allows of to maximize our team .

Melton should start at 2 guard allowing Harden to take the lesser load on defense.

Tobias and Tucker are fine in their roles as starters.

House , Niang and Harrell as back ups and then Shake and Thybulle as specialists.

Harden/ Maxey
Melton/ Thybulle or Shake
Harris / House
Tucker/ Niang
Embiid / Harrell/ Reed

Defense now fixed !!!

This is the drawback of watching the board. Just catch the boxscore.

Tobias is part of the problem on D as well. I would assume he is guarding 3's a lot. He is too slow for a lot of them. He should be guarding 4's most of the time. This team is so slow its pathetic.

Does this team play better without Jojo?

Same story again.. down the stretch we play smallball without Jojo and we were able to match and get it close.

Curious what everyone’s top coaching candidates are. Love the idea of promoting from the inside

Mine are something like
1. Joerger
2. Cassell
3. Burke
4. D’antoni
5. Vogel

Turns out it’s not Jojo but Maxey.

-11 on vs off NetRtg.

+27 off the court NetRtg in the fourth.

Quite evident we need to bench Maxey, but for who, thats the question.

Bench for Melton easy fix, more on the ball facilitator, better defender by a mile (but that’s not hard) needs less of the ball as a scoring option which is ultra important as it makes it more direct on offence and defence, covers 1/2’s it’s pretty much ideal imo.

Thing I hate most about Doc is that he has no imagination, slow to rotate through and doesn’t even utilise players in their correct position. I can live with one wrong thing but all three f that.

For a bench unit:

Maxey (does what he does best, score, primary scorer no choice to defer).
Melton
House jr
Niang
Reed

Run and Gun style, Niang trail 3, super easy.

The worst part is Doc doesn’t even use variance to his advantage. You have 2 high variance players in Korkmaz and Milton, that’s double the chance one of them gets hot you have to use that whenever you can.

Harden(33)/Maxey(15)
Melton(28)/Maxey(12)/Thybulle(8)
Tucker(24)/House(16)/Thybulle(8)
Harris(33)/Niang(15)
Embiid(33)/Harrell(15)

Tucker and Harris should see the court as little as possible together. Pair Tucker with Niang and Harris with House.

I think our crunch time lineup should be

Harden
Maxey
Melton
Tucker
Embiid

Somehow this lineup has yet to play at the same time this year.

About the shooting, this is why you cannot trust this level of sample size for percentages...

Now we're 11th in shooting % from 3 and also have increased our volume to 34 3s per game, which is basically the biggest amount in the Embiid era (and to put in perspective how few 3s we have taken in that time, we're currently 16th in volume lol)

D'Antoni or Joerger is the toss up for me.

Joerger kinda seems more like what they need in terms of addressing the current issues with the team. Based on his past I'm not sure if he can handle stars in this league or even the pressure of being a head coach, particularly under the microscope of this town with these stakes.

D'Antoni concerns me in terms of his lack of focus on defense and how his style would mesh with Joel, but I'm pretty confident the offense would be elite under him, and I like his willingness to experiment and find edges, which clearly lines up more with Morey's mindset than Doc's does.
