What do you mean "apart from age"? Are you magically going to trade for a 27-year-old Damian Lillard?

Players drop off as they go further into their 30's. It's called Father Time and like Chuck says, he's undefeated.

But apparently for Dame lovers the normal rules of aging don't apply, and he'll be amazing and lead us to titles from age 33 to 36.

We need him at his prime for a year or 2. Based on past performance you should easily be able to get that, barring a major injury. I think you're being a bit hyperbolic.

Past performance is no guarantee of future results. Especially when you're a 33-year-old NBA player. You do realize guys like Steph and LeBron are not the norm, right? Little guards especially fall off quick at that age.

Yup, both outcomes are possible, but it's still a good option. No one ever wants to come here. Making max cap space only to see everyone resign, or choose LA or Miami is your plan? This team only gets stars through trades. Tell me the last star who decided to sign here, who was an active star/superstar in there relative prime, not named James Harden.

I'll answer your straw man with one of my own...

Trading the farm for a 33-year-old about to fall off the cliff which will permanently close our window is your plan?

Harden wasnt in his prime and Lillard is not in his prime. I guarantee you what he does next year won't come close to what he did this year. Its like a white elephant having your best year at 32. Also, Lillard is small and not particularlay stout not sure that screams ages particularly well. I'd be more willing to consider it if you could give me a plausible scenario where what we dont end up with is Embiid and Lillard and one of the weakest, if not the weakest of all play-off caliber teams, 3-9 players on the roster in the entire NBA.

Silver closed our window. Collars, Brand and Brett shuttered it. Most likely no matter what we do we won't win. I'd like to hear who you think we can get in FA, that will make this team better than a healthy Lillard or last years team. Remember we lost all our depth.

It won't be like last year because he's not the only star on the team, the MVP will be there too. Obviously his numbers will drop. Are you serious lol.

Lillard had his best season in his career. That is the definition of in your prime.

Then why sell the farm for a 33-year-old?

The point is not to be desperate and make a trade just to make a trade. If a winning move doesn't present itself now, wait until it does and in the meantime position yourself to be able to strike when the opportunity arises.

Trade Maxey for 33-year-old Damian Lillard now otherwise we'll never have another opportunity again!

Like I've been saying... SHORTSIGHTED.

We're past that point, Embiid is 29.

Right because historically we've done a great job signing someone. I love how you chose not to answer that. You know as well as I do we're not getting anymore impact worthy in FA next year.

I thought you agreed he has 3 years of MVP-level play left?

We're not past anything unless you're thirsty and desperate.

Then we can trade for someone later if we acquire assets now. You know, like we TRADED for Jimmy Butler, Tobias Harris, and James Harden in recent years?

Because it gives you a current top 10 player that we can't acquire otherwise.

Again, I'm not even married to this idea, just think the idea to completely dismiss it is excessive. Longest view is not when your MVP is 29 and has a chance of bolting.

I don't think Embiid is waiting 3 years this year and next max.

Have we talked about how this may depend on what embiid wants and if we don’t make this trade and punt on the season, embiid asks for a trade and none of this matters anyway. Building around embiid and Maxey only works if Joel is fine with that plan.

This, in the end it's Jo's decision.

What makes anyone think he’s not fine with the plan? He’s obviously been consulted about it and we don’t hear any complaints.

It’s just fans desperate for Dame inventing another bogus reason why we have to sell out for Lillard now.

James only was traded because he forced the Nets. It was Daryl's only move. Tobias is useless.

Jimmy was the only one.

Funny thing is, I was on the other side of these conversations last summer when we were talking about trading Maxey+Harris for Durant. I wanted Durant badly.
I don’t know how it would’ve turned out if that trade would happen, but I do not want Lillard for Maxey this time.

I guess Morey is feeling the same way.
