I’m puzzled why George chose to target Grayson Allen instead of Beal.
But that’s the NBA in a nutshell: Durant seizing his moment, while George missed his. George needs to take those chances, he’s better in 1-on-1 situations than Maxey.
This season largely hinges on Caleb and Oubre’s shooting, and whether George and Embiid can consistently create and capitalize on mismatches.

Bold prediction: the Sixers will finish the season with a better record than the 8-0 Cavs.

Too bold as it's not happening. Atkinson is one of the best minds in the league on creating a winning culture. I would trade Nurse for him in a minute. Cavs will have the best record in the conference if their key players can remain healthy.FireMorey wrote:Bold prediction: the Sixers will finish the season with a better record than the 8-0 Cavs.

The ball must of actually moved this game, with PG taking some of the ball handling away from Maxey. I love Maxey but he seems to have tunnel vision when he's trying to score, guys get open and he just doesn't see them, or he passes it at the wrong time. Hopefully he will continue to grow there but the sixer would do him and themselves a favor if they paired him next to a playmaking SG(normal size) or a big point guard.

We had more shot attempts, we made more 3s. Acceptable loss

If I say it, it’s happening. It’s really that simple.

I'd agree that they should go with George anytime they plan to do a one on one situation. But, there was enough time for 3 possessions if they tried to. Could've ran a play to get Maxey an open shot, or downhill on the move or even a play for George. But..... Nurse

They were down 2 with 24 secs remaining but they chose to run down the clock like it is the end of a quarter.

It’s the primal basketball urge to attack the white boy on defense.

Its obvious KD was going to get whatever shot he wanted with Gershon on him, the game winning layup was as easy as it could get. We are small with no rim protection at all and because KD is a sniper Gershon played up on him. I just didn't understand his positioning on the play where KD hit the game winning layup. He played his left encouraging him to go to the right as if there was someone under the rim to protect it.
He's wide as a house with poor foot speed , I think defensively he has some instincts and will get better as he gets more comfortable with NBA competition but the reality is he's in between positions as a defender. The positives are he's ox strong with long arms. I think it would make since for him to watch some Draymond / Pj Tucker defensive clips to get a idea of how he can use his large body and length on that end of the floor.

I am not worried about PG (no one refers to him as George or that boy George). He took so much pressure away from Maxey for him to play his game. If he hadn't missed so many 3s, we would have won handedly but that day will come and it's money!phillynative wrote:Jailblazers7 wrote:76ciology wrote:I’m puzzled why George chose to target Grayson Allen instead of Beal.

And it might have cost them.

PG didn't actually play very well in that role last night, and the ball was moving when he wasn't out there too. But it does make a big difference to have the floor that spread and to have defenses having to scheme for two players. Teams have zero fear of Caleb or Oubre initiating 1 on 1 or in the pn'r (it's sometimes effective but they'll live with that), and they had no issues hard trapping Maxey. Last night it felt like the defense could't load up anywhere and there were lots of little gaps to attack. (Also Drummond was so bad last night that the team had no choice but to play Yabu, he struggled with some things but definitely opened the floor up.)
Agree about Maxey 100%. Though I also think he just needs to play with anyone good at initiating (like PG), more so than any old playmaking SG or big PG.

Loser ass team with a loser ass mentality. Yet, somehow, entitled.

Oubre is definitely the weak link in this S5 once Joel is back. Brings a bit of pestiness on the perimeter, but that's traded out for abhorrent shooting percentages, bad decision making, zero playmaking etc
Groundhog day watching that game play out down the stretch, regardless of the personnel we have out there - we'll continue to throw games away in the most ridiculous of fashions
George opened things up for everyone else, which was nice to see. Will be a great player once he starts to catch rhythm.

Once Embiid is back Yabusele should be the starting PF and Oubre come from the bench.

Yabu has potential if he can hit that open 3 with good volume. The only problem i see is he´s kinda of a tweener: too small to be a center and too slow to be a PF. I think he would benefit of losing some weight, if possible, since he´s built like a truck lol.
