He's going off by Jason Kidd's current SHOOTING averages. If he looked alot more closely, he would've seen that Jason Kidd's numbers match that of his ENTIRE career. Perhaps a little better in the assists and rebs catagory. It could be plausible that the Nets have only been winning their recent games, THANKS to how Kidd's making use of a Nets team with no inside presense. Miller's been playing great but come on now. Jason Kidd at 35 is better then Oscar when he was 35.

Vince Cartrer to Indiana wouldn't fix the team's interior D.(Jim has GOT to change that system a little bit. But offensively, Kareem Rush is a 3pt shooter OFF the bench. Danny Granger's a forward. Vince Carter is a 23 PPG Guard/Forward that can take over games.).

Jermaine O'Neal has done nothing for Indiana, but NJN is taking a risk here. If Jermaine O'Neal comes back strong, he, Kristic, Harris will be a good core for 3-5 years.

Wait... what year is this?? 2008, right? I don't think anyone is making the claim that Kidd is the best PG in the game today especially when you look at the seasons that some of the young guys (Chris Paul and Deron Williams) are having.

Kidd is still a good player but I think Dallas is making a huge mistake by sending Harris, 2 picks, and filler to Jersey for him.

Also... here's a pretty solid column from John Hollinger about why the new deal is still bad for Dallas.

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/insider/ ... ade-080217

I knew Kidd was a bad shooter but I didn't realize that his field goal percentage was down to 36.6%. That is brutal!

I wouldnt get your hopes up for something to happen this week.

They been looking at moving Giricek if they think they can get an expiring that may make their rotation. You probably heard Bonzi Wells name....someone like that.

Artest will not happen...he doesnt want to come here, even if its just for the rest of the season.

The Sixers would move Green, Smith, Carney, Ollie,Shav, Amundson, Giricek, or Evans.....but the market doesnt really exist for any/many of those.

So SF is your source privy to any of the offers Ed has been getting for AM? Was there any thought to approaching Dallas with an offer to counter the Kidd trade?
Don't worry, that builds character and you can never have too much character...

Has the team changed its outlook on Miller or Carney after the recent wins?

Do they see Miller as a player they might extend, or will he eventually get moved (this summer or next year?)

There was no thought to trading Miller....regardless of the Kidd situation..he is the engine that makes this team run. Carney can be had. Personally..I like Carney and would rather move Green.

sixersfan:

Assuming that Miller really is off limits (which I am fine with), have there been ANY substantive discussions about anybody else (Evans, Green, Carney)?

If anyone is still dumb enough to say that, then yes. I don't think many would say that anymore, unless they were just trying to be PC and not rock the NBA's boat of hierarchy.

NJ's Offensive Ratings
this year: 25th
07: 16th
06 25th
05: 26th

If Kidd is such a great point guard, how come NJ has always sucked at offense, even with guys like Carter and Jefferson? He's gotten old.

I'm pretty sure they wanted to give it to Stanford but since he's Canadian he was ineligible.

Sixerfan,

Who may the 6ers be targetting? Wilcox from Seattle?

Which teams are interested in Green and Evans? There must be a market for these guys, they would be solid bench players for a contender like Orlando.

Thanks for stopping by, SF. I'm a little shocked to Smith's name pop up as a player to be had. Even though the Sixers aren't looking to move Miller, have you heard of any offers that have come in for him??

Nothing is done but the Sixers are in negotiations with Hawks, Clippers, Bulls, Rockets and Bobcats.
For example:
Brand, Okafor-Morrison, T-Mac, Hinrich-Gordon,Tyrus Thomas, Josh Smith- M.Williams.

SEND EM & DEDICATED:

I am in agreement w you both that Kidd is unquestionably better than Miller. I dont care about who's offense is better, blah blah blah. If im not mistaken, even our real Gm compares Miller to Kidd-- not the other way around.

Kidd is the benchmark for players who make others better w/o even scoring.
----

NOW regarding this trade, I have been adamant that Im not sure how much, if at all, this trade makes Dallas better. I think Harris is really good, and if he didnt have an injury and was w/o Dirk or Josh, he would be the #2 guy on the team-- and do it very well with a good amount of pub too

I think Kidd makes Dallas better this year but im not sold on next year.

but for someone to tell me that Miller is better than Kidd really confuses me...

if im correct, our offensive numbers aren't necessarily top 10

A lot of those names seem like extreme reaches for Stefanski to acquire at the deadline.

Brand: He isn't back from injury so why trade for him especially if he could opt-out? If the cost is next to nothing... sure but I doubt that the Clippers are just giving Elton Brand away, injured or not.

Okafor-Morrison: I would love to get Okafor but Charlotte isn't trading him unless it's for something big.

T-Mac: The Rockets have 15 of 18, T-Mac isn't getting moved for anything we have.

Bulls: Some of those players make some sense but the reports that have come out have said that those players (except Hinrich) would probably go with Wallace in an attempt to remove his salary.

Hawks: They just made a move for Bibby, I doubt that they move Smith or Williams now.

There are no Miller offers because Ed told people he isnt trading him.

I will try and get some names we have talked about this week as we get closer to the deadline. Right now..I have no specific hot burner trade details.

As for the question from philly.com boards...I think he is pulling a fast one on you.....our trade talks arent major in nature...just small tweaks to the rotation type.

I think you may see us try to get a useable veteran big man for the rest of the year....other than that. Dont expect much.

More later..have to run.
