watch the game. he has no BASKETBALL iq. whether he is smart off-the-court doesn't matter. he is playing like a smal kidd who starts to play ball.

in the game of basketball after you pick up your dribble, you arent allowed to take 8 steps.

sam has been playing basketball long enough to know this.

sam did that. thus, sam is dumb.

They really need to stop doubling and switching and just protect the perimeter

Pierce is starting to take his shots now. He is really the heart and soul of the Celtics. When they need a score, he will get it for them.

Well, all-in-all not bad. If they can just hang around ... you never know what happens in the last 5 minutes of the game.

Do you guys mind if I just bash the Celtics for the rest of the game?

I hate this team so much.

I swear Pierce always kills us and yet we always leave him open.

But that goal tend was hilarious, thats what you get for all your first pumping and swearing at children.

Heimsohn was crying around that Evans intended a pass. That was hilarious.

Seriously, a good big man who has a clue about offense would make wonders for our team. I do like Sammy's and Evans' defensive effort but there are absolutely terrible on the other side of the court. Simply terrible.

I haven't recognized much of the game since the quality is beyond terrible but I do like what I have seen from Thaddeus. He is once again playing a smart game.

The Big Three always uses to play good against us. That is really, really starting to get annoying. They need to cool off a bit and we might have a chance.

My vantage point: The ist half

Post#79 » by is1531 » Tue Mar 25, 2008 12:58 am

In the ist quarter the 76ers looked overmatched for the ist 10 minutes with their weak starting 5 players. Miller looked like the only 76er who had a clue on how to play.

How quickly the game changed when Young came in the game, then was followed by the 2nd stringers, who played excellent to made the game exciting for me to watch.

Here are a few highlight plays that had me jumping in the ist half: Iggy splitting 2 Celtics in transition for a layup. The Jason Smith block on Big Baby after he beat another 76er player. On top of which, after the ball was blocked, Big Baby fell to the floor landing out of bounds, knocking the beer out of a fans hands. Then you had the Lou Williams pass for a Thad dunk. Then the pass Lou made to the trailing Carney for the dunk.

We go into the 3rd quarter with 2 bonehead turnovers to start the 3rd quarter. Later Miller gets stripped in the backcourt, which gives Garnett a jumper. The worst was, seeing Big Sam triying his useless post up game, getting the shot block by Perkins, then getting the ball back, only to get called for a 24 second violation. Big Sam, just makes mistake after mistake.

Finally, one other play, Thaddeus came along the basline and threw a pass which defelected off a 76er and was stolen by a Celtic. The shot was missed in transition by Boston, but the ball went over the top of the backboard, giving the ball back to Philly. Why did I mention this play? Guess who the first player on the other end in transition was ready to grab the rebound, if the ball did not go over the top? It was indeed , the hustling Thaddeus Young.

Once again the the 76ers can not stop the trays from Ricky Pierce nor can they stop Leon Powe. The 76ers are doing pretty good for a team that really does not have the talent to match up with Boston.

The 76ers have held their own for three quarters, trailing 71-66, but they continue to prove why they are last in foul shooting. Iggy missed 2 foul shots near the end of the 3rd quarter.Willie Green made 2 good moves to the hoop late in the 3rd quarter, but failed to finish on either play.Miller continues to show why is such a good finisher to the hoop.

Calvin Booth played the last 2 minutes on the 3rd quarter and almost 3 minutes to start the 4th quarter. The 76ers went -4 with Booth in the lineup. Cheeks will be 2nd guessed for this move, not using Jason Smith. How does that help Smith's confidence?

It's a shame we play our worst mental games vs Boston, too many stupid mistakes.
