He's very odd in that nothing he does is that impressive and he isn't the smoothest looking player, but he just finds ways to make plays. Guys like that tend to hang around the league.

Most players improve on their 3-pt shooting from college to pro, unless their college numbers were small sample size flukes. Shooting is one of the more developable skills: it’s just our aberrant experience as Sixers fans causes us to forget it.
To me, it’s just not about whether McCain can develop and contribute at 23 in 3 years. Embiid will be walking with a cane by then. It’s whether da Silva would have given us quality minutes at the 4 spot now. If he would have, we screwed up.

I never got the “too skinny” take for basketball. This isn’t football. Everybody said the same crap about Chet, he did just fine. Before that it was Durant and KG.

Garnett also added 30+.
Chet Holmgren is so "physical" OKC just overpaid to get a bigger body to play beside him just for the "softer" side I guess.

Regarding McCain, it's really easy to doubt him based on much of what we've seen this summer, as he has clanged so many 3's and been out of control at times going to the rim. But that opening C&S corner 3 with the quick release is the tantalizing aspect he could bring in year one. It doesn't seem like the moment is too big for him at all, and the hope is that he can flourish in a more structured smaller role with the big group this fall.
Justin Edwards wasn't impressive the first few games, but I can squint and see a little something in him if they are patient. He's got a little Jabari Parker in him, except he isn't as confident.
