Odom was a long player that could handle it, but he wasn't a distributor. He also was the athlete that Simmons is.

And on top of that, he was a knucklehead crack smoker.

There is one other factor. He just wasn't as good as Simmons.

And Simmons has been a prima donna diva who has an "off switch" if things don't go his way.

Simmons looks like he's going to get blocked a couple of times a night

A lot of players get blocked once or twice a night.

You must not have watched Odom too much then, if that's your opinion of him.

Odom, in his prime was a top 10 - 15 player in the league during his time.

* note, I'm not saying Odom was a top 10 - 15 player of all time.

I think Simmons is a quicker, more fluid athlete compared to Odom. Also think he has a better handle.

Simmons is a shorter Giannis who's a bit thicker, but lacks the defensive intensity. If it wasn't for the fact that he was more physically developed than his age cohort, he wouldn't get any of this hype. But when he gets into the NBA, with NBA level athletes, his rebounding will drop (remember Michael Beasley?), and his lack of offensive skills besides ball handling and passing will be exposed.

Ingram isn't a lock - they both have flags - but IMO Ingram is both the better prospect and the far better fit for the Sixers.

For all the crazy things Simmons can do, he will never be a guy who will lead a team. He also does not fit the current roster. The Sixers do not need another guy who can't shoot. Simmons doesn't want the ball in crunch time and he doesn't play with consistent effort. If he couldn't turn it on when he was trying to get paid, what makes people believe that he'll turn it on once he does get the big money???

Ingram needs to be the pick. The NBA and the execs want to be competitive next season... Simmons doesn't bring that to the team. All he does is create an even bigger log jam than we already have.

I hate that. ET led the league in getting his shot blocked. -- I might have made that up. Simmons has a 5.5 inch discrepancy in his standing reach measurements on DX (Hoop Summit vs LSU). I bet Ingram has 5 inches of standing reach over Simmons. Give Ingram 20 lbs of muscle and he will be the kind of defensive player that guards Simmons. Ingram is probably still growing.

Simmons might be hiding alligator arms. He's hiding. He's like Angelo Russell's cousin. Those two belong together. Stat padders that don't show up in big games. I say leave him for LAL. Aren't the Colangelos supposed to be big "character guys?"

Team Ingram!!

Ingram is going to be a beast when he fills out his body. He has some broad shoulders too.

Whether it's Simmons or Ingram, so be it - I'm not dying on either hill.

I say we make this easy and trade Okafor and the Lakers pick back to them for the 2nd pick and draft them both. Then go out and get Jeff Teague if possible and run:
Teague/tj
Ingram/stauskas
Simmons/Covington
Saric/holmes/grant
Embiid or noel depending on embiid health and how much the sixers let him play.

Why do people keep insisting that LA wants Okafor?

If they wanted him so bad, they would have drafted him last year.
