Are you saying that he shouldn't have gone second last year?
I personally thought that he was the only logical choice for the second pick last year. In the modern one and done world, the best thing for him was to come out last year, but if he was independently wealthy already, and we were only talking about what is best for his basketball development, I think that he should have stayed in college.
You can be not ready for the league as a guard like Lavine easier than being not ready as a forward. I think that Ingram's lack of strength is a real issue in the NBA as a forward, and he doesn't have great quickness to make up for it.
I still think that he is a born scorer, and will eventually grow into a two way player at the 3, but he is going to need some time.
