Hinkie just got lucky. Let's be real here. If he had to choose between healthy Parker/Wiggins or hurt Embiid and sixers had the 2nd pick, he would have done the same thing the Bucks did. He would have picked the the left over of parker and wiggins.

It was really a 3 man 2014 NBA draft. The difference between Embiid/Wiggins/Parker and the tier 2 prospects was so huge.

Embiid is playing great, but I'd like to see the sixers rest Embiid a few games here or there especially back to backs on the road. Even a young usually horse like Giannis playing a ton of minutes wore down last season. It happens to many bigs. Gotta save the miles on these guys.

If Hinkie was lucky with Embiid then he was unlucky with Okafor.

GM’s get full credit and blame for their draft picks.

I agree that it will be interesting to see how he responds. He expended a lot of energy tonight, but he is only 24 after all, and in the best shape of his life.

Might be a good idea to start resting him in back to backs.

It might also force certain underperforming players to start playing better.

He's fine... He only played 33 minutes in this game...

You get a lot of rest by going to the line, just as how AI used to do it back then

Even today he was visibly less active in the second half.

What is important is that he stays healthy and that he is still fresh in April. Whether he skips a game from time to time is a non issue if it helps him achieve these things.

Every superlative you can throw at him he deserves. I can't remember being this excited about a player for a long long time. We're on the cusp of seeing a guy who could ascend into all time greatness over the next stretch of his career.

Just quietly, with all the uptick in his numbers this season you could miss that his passing has improved a lot, at least to my eyes.

He's not only a center anymore.

Without him we would be a lotto team, hopefully he can remain healthy, so far he lands much better, it is not like 1st season where he had scary falls all over the place.

Not only he's great, but I love his persona. It's great to have a player like Joel in our franchise. It makes everything funny as hell.

Embiid's lower body strength is noticeably better. He is initiating contact and getting defenders off balanced. Something Simmons needs to do, too.

JJJ and Gasol tonight on a back to back....going to be a tough task.

But if anyone can do it, its Embiid. Dude has been ridiculous this season and theres still soooo much more he can do/improve on, which is scary.

Embiid HATES getting dragged out to the three point line. So these are the games where he's going to be tired and frustrated.

Great improvement from last year. If he stays healthy he's a first ballot Hall of Fame player.

I think today he will have a bad game, back to back after playing 39min and playing against good bigs. Hope I'm wrong.

Embiid has had a lot of problems with Marc gasol. Gasol is a smart player. Has gotten embiid in foul trouble with his veteran moves. Gasol is a legit 7 footer as well and just as long.

Embiid just needs to pace himself and not play bully ball with gasol. That doesn’t work on him.

excited to see how JJJ, my #1 player in the draft, fairs against Embiid. I think Embiid could teach him a thing or two about timing and could put JJJ in foul trouble with some pump fakes.

Embiid struggles the most against very strong centers, so it makes more sense to put Gasol against him instead of JJJ, as bully ball will be less effective.

Rest embiid. Dont care about this memphis game. It all about the game after this grizzly game.

If Joel sustains this pace realistically where does he stand in terms of top players? I mean, for sure top 5 right?

28.2 p/13.4 r/3.5 a/3.1 to/2.1 blk on 18.6 FGA. 60% TS and 26.1 PER. He's also cut his TO rate by 4% which is huge.

On defense he's tied for the league lead in DWS, and allowing 52.3% on FGs within 6 feet. That's lower than AD (58.2%) and Gobert (59%).

Right now he's essentially Shaq in his prime with a jump shot. If this is sustained or (lol) gets BETTER, when do we start comparing him to the LBJs, Curries and Durants of the league? I mean, he's already outperforming the AD/Harden tier, right? With those offensive stats and his defensive impact, it's not even crazy to start thinking about.
