Part of me likes the clap back, part of me can't get over how lame this dude is.

For his sake I hope he's good, because that will determine whether all this stuff is viewed as endearing or something he gets relentlessly ripped for.

Y'all are missing me with this. I don't think it's funny but just looks like a 20 year old being kinda corny like literally about half the 20 year olds I know are. Being kinda dorky isn't some awful or embarrassing thing that should hang over him like a cloud.

Also this generation spent so much time in little cliques and camps on the internet that they don't have the same sense of how and why things should be embarrassing. He's making these videos for his followers who like his dorky positive vibe, and who are also probably on average 20 years younger than us (if not more). We're really not the audience and aren't supposed to get it.

Yabusele has more upside than most, if not all, of the PF types left. It’s a good gamble to take. This is by far the deepest and most talented Sixer team in the Embiid era.

Morey did far better with his cap space plan than even he expected to do. So credit for that.

I don't give a **** about the videos one way or another beyond thinking they are corny when someone posts them. Just saying, how those videos are received are going to vary greatly based on his play on the floor. If he's good, it'll be some cute, endearing thing. If he stinks, it's gonna be fuel to rip him.

I have to admit, Matisse's enthusiasm for 2015 style vlogs really annoyed me when it became obvious he wasn't trying to get better at anything.

Yeah that's what I'm missing. If he's good they'll still be corny, if he's not good they'll be irrelevant because he will be. Feels like only the internet's lamest and losery-est corners would still be taking pot shots at him in a few years if he flops as a NBA player and isn't making any on-court news. Maybe be a little nickname that follows him around some ('then Morey missed on that tik-tok kid...') but that's whatever. We'll always find some name/insult for anyone who adds to our collective philly misery, just be something else if he didn't make little videos.

Probably shouldn't have bothered anyone more than Ben Simmons quietly buying sports cars and dating expensive idiots while not improving. If a guy's not getting better I'm gonna be mad at that, not at what the hobby they do in the like 4 hours they're not practicing or focusing on ball very day. It really doesn't make sense to me that people would rip a guy for making dumb videos more than for like playing video games in their basement.

Josh Hart. Is he really 2024 playoffs good? Because if not, then maybe we shouldn’t be too concerned with our rebounding

Part of the reason is Knicks is just playing 4v5 where he can crash the board or get good looks because of how Lowry is defending him.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Oubre and KJ Martin paired nice together last year that being said I bet Yabsele starts PF because George prefers SF.

Embiid/ Drummond/Bona
Yabelse/ Martin
George/ KO
Caleb/Gordan/Council
Maxey / Jackson / Lowry / Mccain

Embiid should be paired with a rebounding PF all times.... I expect us to jump all over a Ben Simmons buyout later in season too.

All the women hoops fans around me fell instantly in love with McCain, (especially my wife -- it took like 2 tiktoks and she was all in lol). My daughter (his age) might even start to like basketball because of him.

For me, he seems from afar to be a nice kid, positive, intelligent, works on his game. I got no problem with that, and as long as he puts in the effort in the court, he’s got the benefit of the doubt as far as I’m concerned.

I think Philly fans will go one of two ways. If he works hard and other fans/teams give him sh*t, they’ll be very protective. If he doesn’t work hard, they’re gonna be very critical of the tiktoks.

Every scouting thing about McCain I saw was unanimous about his character and work ethic being excellent

I’m much more concerned about whether he actually has a position than his tiktoks

Well we all want to date expensive, gorgeous models that are idiots and drive sports cars.

Anybody from 8 year olds to 80 year olds can relate to that.

We just can't all relate to being a basketball star now in the NBA with painted nails and twerking to Drake on tiktok... Rather than dating expensive idiots and driving sports cars.....But.... If he plays well he could start that trend and be praised :D

You need to replace “work hard” with “plays well”.

He can work as hard as he wants. The fans aren't going to see it. He's not going to play. He's not good enough to get minutes from Lowry, Reggie Jackson or Eric Gordon, so he's not going to be on the court.

His work-outs and practice habits aren't televised. So as long as he's not contributing or not playing well, he's going to be clowned for any outside activities. That's just the way it is.

Fair enough - he has to play well eventually, and we aren't going to see his practices. Obviously. I meant if he is taking charges and diving for loose balls in the minutes he does get, and if his game is improving (i.e. as the on-court result of working on it), Philly fans are going to be less critical. We generally support a guy who gives it his all more than we do a Ben Simmons type.

As for whether he's good enough to play, we clearly don't know that yet.

I still can’t believe Morey picked him, especially given the circumstances. Hopefully I am way off on my assessment, but the poor fit, lack of physicality, and small size altogether is just such a bad combo.

I think we’re missing a proper guard to start next to Maxey.

Get another former Celtic in Brogdon for McCain + 1RP

Sign Fultz to the minimum. Then grab Simmons in a buyout.

Maxey Brogdon George Simmons Embiid
Fultz Oubre Martin Yabu Drummond
Lowry Gordon RC4 Roco Bona

Not only a fun reunion in Ben and Fultz but also solves our needs. Insanely deep, talented, and well rounded. Simmons adds rebounding, defense, secondary playmaking, and transition play. Brogdon adds IQ, defense, shooting, and hates the Celtics lol.

It's going to be difficult/impossible to trade for Brogdon's salary without trading some important players, but otherwise I agree he'd be a good fit.

I agree they should've been looking at a young athletic defensive guard to play next to Maxey or replace him in case he needs time out. Fultz or Dennis Smith Jr. Would've been great. Maxey, George and even Joel are able to space the floor and hit contested jumpers, but having a guy that could push the ball and setup offense like a real PG and defend could've been valuable. Clearly not likely at this point, so they're going the old head route, which is fine honestly... but makes so much sense to get a guy like dsj or fultz if you can, but playing time can't be guaranteed as the shooting of Eric and Kyle is more important in the playoffs. Especially since they actually have gotten quality prospects at forward, which was a bigger need.

I'll reiterate, Morey has written a masterclass on how to build a full roster and a big 3 in the most restrictive league/cba in many fans life times. Never thought it was possible, but he's highlighted some loopholes that are new
