I would be very happy if we could get Aldrich somehow, and even happier if we could get him without giving up thad and giving up lou or speights package

.
I can certainly see why you would say that and you know best. But I do have to say Brand is the one piece of the puzzle where the way it's been handled this off-season makes no sense. I mean, this guy is by default (resume and experience level) the veteran leader of the team. So what happens when a new coach is hired? He immediately sets up a meeting with Iggy (perfectly sensible) and makes some statements about getting Elton "to feel good about playing basketball again". Maybe I've missed it, but I've not heard of the Elton/Collins summit.
Secondly, Collins has hinted for at least 3 other players (Thad, Speights, and potentially Nocioni) to get minutes at the 4, which everyone knows in Brand's natural position. I mean I don't get it. We want to get you playing good ball again, but I'm pretty much declairing I'm going play you out of position and won't put at end to the 2 million rumors that the team is trying to trade you. And now your agent, who is one of the most connected people in the league, concedes that he thinks you may be on the move soon.
Either this is absolute idiocy or something does not smell right. And I could believe either with this organization.

I would be really happy if we came away with Turner and Aldrich but ecstatic if we somehow got Turner and Cousins.
When asked by a reporter during Wednesday's media day what value he can bring to an NBA team, Aldrich pointed to Game 7 of the NBA Finals.
"I would tell them to watch Lakers-Celtics Game 7," Aldrich said. "If you want a guy that is like either team's bigs, that's me. You watch that game and it so defensive. I'm that type of player."

We're not trading Brand this offseason. Everyone get over it.

Re: The Sixerfan1976 Draft Thread (Update Pg. 36)
I really could care less if they traded Brand at this point. because any trade is going to bring back negative value.
The team is not contending in the next 2 years. There will be a lock-out after this season. then the following year Brand will be either bought out (like CWebb) or be an expiring contract with positive value.
Brand was a horrible signing, but that die has been cast. Might as well just keep in around and make the best of it.

For the record btw, I am completely fine with us holding on to Brand until he becomes "Elton Brand's expiring contract". I'm just pointing out that the communications and handling of him since Collins hire don't make a lot of sense to me.
Besides, trading him would not be a franchise changer because there is limited value in what he could bring back. The only person in that category is Iguodala.

It's just a case of the man being busy.
Agreed, and it's been a while since SF has been this active on this board as well, so thanks alot!

wouldn't it be weird if this key draft for us turns out like OKC s key draft (the 2007 one)
Draft Turner at 2 (like Durant)
Trade Iggy for the another top pick like #4 or #5 (like with Ray Allen)
Draft our foward/big man of the future at that spot whether it be Favors, Cousins or Monroe (like with Jeff Green)

Miami just practically gave away Dequan Cook and the 18th pick. We really need to get another draft pick. Every year this crap happens. I'm glad and all that we are at 2 but I think we need to make another draft move. When your a bad team that is what you do.

That is frustrating...OKC does a great job. Not sure Cook is a fit any longer, but the 18th pick would have been nice to have.

Re: The Sixerfan1976 Draft Thread (Update Pg. 36)
I'd be happy if the following happened before the start of the season:
We drafted Turner with the second pick
We unloaded Brand in a package with WG for a second rounder and future pick
We drafted Jerome James with our second rounder.
(or, we somehow unloaded Iguodala for a top 5 pick and got Cousins)
New Team:
PG: Holiday / Turner
SG: Turner / Lou Williams
SF: Iguodala / Young / Carney
PF: Speights / Young
C: Hawes / Jerome James / Smith
Does anyone think we could land a top pick for Thaddeus Young? I wonder what his value is at this point.

Thunder have a plethora of picks now...26, 21, and 18. I see them adding two bigs to add some depth. Maybe Alabi and Orton? Then take a guy like Warren for a risk/reward player.

I think they try to consolidate 2 of those and move up, maybe 18/26 to get to like 15 or something... and then take Sanders/Orton. /shrug

Sure it was, and one has to do with luck and the other has to do with another team not wanting to get ripped off.

SF76,
Not to change the subject too much but you've reported that the current players were going to be working out the beginning of this week before the draft. I haven't seen any reporting on this. If you could, ask your friend which players are in town working out & if Collins is with them?

I thought the Sixers didn't have a 2nd round pick this year.
