What the Sacramento-Cleveland deal tells me is that, unlike what Kate Fagan reported, player swaps are still open for business today. Would be extremely easy to have had Iggy meet with the team physicians of GS, LAC or LAL today seeing as he is on the West coast.

Keep hope alive. :)

I can't believe that Sacramento is only giving up Casspi, and a lotto protected first round pick for Hickson. Good draft or not next year thats not giving up much for a young player that potentially could average close to 20/10 next season given the right amount of minutes.

I was stunned when I saw this and wish Philly could have gotten in on this action. I have liked Hickson for a couple of years now and think he would have been a nice option at C or PF when Brand is gone. That would have been a nice piece to build with.

Reported by Sam Amick

Sources said Cavs have been trying to trade Hickson for six weeks. Kings gave best offer.

1st rd pick in the deal is lottery protected in '12, top 13 in '13, top 12 in '14, top 10 in '15-'17. 2nd rd pick if none of those happen.

His defensive presense would've complimented V's lack thereof nicely, and they would've had nice size and rebounding at 7'0 and 6'9-6'10.

I just don't get it. Why not trade for a guy like Hickson if he's available.

Maybe Sacto is looking to swap Hickson with someone else for Iggy? LOL I can dream.

Jrue
Turner
Hickson
Vucevic

That's 4 nice pieces to build around and fit well together.

Kings now have Tyreke, Cousins, Hickson, Jimmer. Gonna be a decent team.

Maybe, but all those guys like to shoot (at least Jimmer did in college). Might not be the best fit.

Well they have Hickson and Salmons as defenders. Tyreke as a playmaker, Jimmer as a sharp shooter, and Cousins as a post presense.

That's pretty solid if you ask me.

I'm sure he becomes extremely available as a result of that deal. The again, maybe not if they don't resign Dalembert.

Would you do Speights for Thompson? Change of scenery may help both guys.

I think that's the missing part of this story. Apparently contract talks are not going well since Sammy apparently wants more money than he's being offered & will probably sign with a contender. That being the case, Sac needs 3rd big man to go with Thompson & Cousins. Hickson played some 5 last year & seems like a decent fit. I know they have Whiteside in the D-League or wherever but I guess he's not ready to play.

Supposedly it was the Cavs who refused to trade Hickson for Amare in LeBron's last year there. His stock has dropped since then. I think the Cavs fully intend to tank one more year since they took a guy that can't play this year with the fourth pick, but has tons of upside. By 2012-2013 they should have a very nice set of young stars.

Hickson plays average D, at best. I would of liked him, but he is far from a finish product.

Kings will be able to score...but there is only one ball.

Are you thinking of Jonas V? Thompson is playing this season(or whenever it'll be) hence the need to move Hickson.

Anyways, I changed my mind about the deal for the Cavs because of the 2012 pick, but then I realized it's lottery protected = useless and they really gotta bank on the Kings to get good quick to bank on the pick. Considering they play in the west we'll have to see although I LOVE their roster. Once they acquire a talented SF they'll be a problem. That is one DEEP team.

The 76ers do not need J.J Hickson. We need star players. I think the Kings overpaid for Hickson.

I'm so disheartened that my fellow Sixer fans overrate JJ Hickson like this. You like JJ you might as well be a Speights fan too.

Hickson isn't much of a defender...is he?? Not sure this is a great deal for Sacramento, but I like how Cleveland fills the SF spot and clears space for TT. Win for the Cavs.
