"I have no doubt that Joel is going to play basketball soon. Playing against him this summer a couple times, he looked great, he looked very healthy," Noel said.
Nerlens probably doesn't know much, but doesn't hurt to put this here I guess.
I wonder how long it takes for the garbage celtics offer to morph into "Sixers trying to trade Noel". I can't wait until this rebuild is over.

If we trade Noel I'm going to be super pissed. He's the first player we've had in a while worth a damn.

There is just no way we'd de-value our own player by saying he could have an injury as a smokescreen. Just no way. I believe these executives could jokingly say "Yeah knowing Sam maybe he would do that!" and Jake translates that into his tweet.
Think about it...Imagine if you're Embiid's agent....All of a sudden you see a report that Embiid is hurt/not healing properly...Can you imagine how PO'ed you'd be?! This devalues your clients value wjhich could hurt contract size in the future. It's a joke.

Yep. Baring getting AD, Durant,Westbrook or LeBron back I'd be done with Hinkie if he moved Noel.

The word "setback" was never used by the Sixers. The organization simply say that he was not healing as fast as expected, which is not something you can really refute without releasing medical information. It was the media that reported that he had a "setback", probably in the same way that the media reported he was 300 pounds.
In the end, an agent can't fight every battle against the press. Embiid and his agent knows that his future value rests on how well he's able to stay on the field. If he has a healthy season next year and looks dominant, no one is going to remember that some reporter claimed he had a "setback" in the offseason. If he doesn't have a healthy season, no amount of positive or negative press is going to assuage anyone's belief that he's injury prone.
If it is Hinkie just putting out smokescreens, I doubt the agent has anything to worry about because Hinkie probably has no intention of trading him after putting out the announcement anyway. Why try to trade him when his value is low?

I very much doubt it's a smokescreen. Our own Tom Moore today reported that they're looking at getting multiple opinions on his foot. This is a real concern.

I think the fact that he hasn't healed as much as they had hoped is definitely very real. I think the 'setback' is overblown.

Again, when they say his foot is not healing as fast as we would have liked... that can mean they thought the foot would have fully healed by now but instead, it's only 95% healed. In other words, for all intents and purposes he's fine, there's just a little underlying bone structure that doesn't show the desired density. That doesn't mean he can't play. It doesn't even mean the area is prone for further injury necessarily. He certainly doesn't have pain. It could have just been simply a way to let the fans down easy that he wouldn't be in Vegas!
Anyway I am expecting him out there for training camp. The timing of the news was too coincidental and almost perfectly lined up with DraftExpress mocking Porzingis to the Sixers. I'm not saying smokescreen, I'm saying the news came out when it was supposed to.

Embiid has three years left on his deal. If he shows any signs of reaching close to his potential over that time span he's getting a max deal, that Hinkie statement will have zero impact.

This isn't news. He is just regurgitating what was in the Sixers press release.

Take a listen to at about the 32 mark to the 45 mark, sum extra inside stuff on Embiid when he was out saturday night at Rumor, no way the injury is legit, 100 percent a smokescreen. Hinkie fooling everyone!!

It’s almost draft time here in Philly, so I’d thought we’d touch on the time our awkward white asses hung out with our new best 7-ft black friends Jo-Jo and Nerlens around town for the night. And by “hung out” I mean, well, just listen to the damn thing. Also, we touch on the actual draft and how losing my wallet has forced me to live off Coinstar and eat peanuts for dinner. Literally, peanuts. Tis the life of a king, if royalty existed on the third deck of the Titanic.

But they never said he was injured, they said he wasn't healed to the extent they expected. Healing is key, if his bone isn't healed, his likelihood of re injuring it increases.

we'll see shortly. if the rate of healing suddenly increases tomorrow, we'll know it was a ruse.

He's probably 96% when they thought he would be 99% by now. We'll hear in a couple days.

I still have no idea where this 95% is coming from and not having the desired density is the same thing as saying that the area is prone to further injury.
I know it's fun to think that Hinkie has a monopoly on the truth and that he can bend the universe to his will, but Embiid was scheduled for 5x5 play very soon and any issues with his health would have had to come out, anyway. Before the draft, after the draft...it doesn't matter. Philly couldn't trade Embiid without the other team doing a physical.

Embiid has three years left on his deal. If he shows any signs of reaching close to his potential over that time span he's getting a max deal, that Hinkie statement will have zero impact.
But doing that is the opposite of smart. Hinkie and smart agents think in terms of conditional probabilities:
The probability of player X being at least as high as level Y, given that he has a very slow healing foot injury, history of stress fractures in his back, and reports about his diet and workout attitude, are lower than they would be without this info.
Yes, if he looks like Olajuwon, he will get the max, regardless, but how likely is that? If you were his agent and your livelihood depended on the market perception of your client, you would at least want some kind of income floor in the event that Embiid, through bad luck, let's say, isn't dominant but shows promise. The degree that you get paid for that promise he shows will definitely take into account his current red flag, which is much more serious of a flag than that at draft-time, last year.
