In reality, Doc Rivers is a slightly above average coach, he is not the issue here, but it's easier to blame issues on the coach, maybe our players are overrated?

If Doc isn't a main issue, which I think he is, than what are the top issues to you?

The bench, the issue is the bench.

Re: The Official Fire Doc Rivers Thread
Doc isn't the main issue...but he is a major part of it.
Fact is that the coach is easier to replace than the stars.
Joel EMbiid is a tough guy to build around in the modern NBA. That is not the same as you can't build around him but it requires a special hand and one that the franchise has constantly failed to build. To have a big man as your best player, you need a coach that will scheme to put said Big Man in the best spots. Since Jo has arrived the main game plan was to just throw him the ball and hope for the best...which can work but isn't really a plan.
TBF to Doc I think he has done a solid job in that regard this season as IMO Jo's offensive game plan scheme of a a lot of PNR and screening is exactly how he should be used....but sadly Doc's other issues of being stubborn has caused the other end to go awry. Not playing Thybulle, keeping Tucker on Siakam as he gets torched, not play Reed...all things that yeah on paper seem small but are the things that constantly add up and costs us games. Its on Morey that we have to make decisions with said players at all IMO BUT it is the coaches job to make the right choices and Doc has constantly not done that IMO. People harp on the Ben layup but IMO that Hawks series was lost when he put Danny on Trae for game 1. He then followed it up with not playing Maxey when the team needed juice and the same for Shake. He is constantly slow to react and it costs us. The Knicks game, we got back into it and a big lead by playing Reed, he took him out and the lead went...a good coach would have either left him out there or put him right back in.
Those are the things Doc ruins for this team and getting rid of him, would at the very least fix those as we have seen in the games he has missed that Burke, Joeger, and co...actually adjust and play guys. It won't fix everything because IMO this roster is cheeks and that falls on Morey skating by for so long. It won't fix everything because Embiid, love the guy, is out of shape and seemingly very emo right now for whatever reason. Harden's out (this one is Doc's fault), and other teams are simply better....but to expect keeping him to actually change anything either seems irrational. Trading Embiid may be on the Horizon but since we don't own our own pick, that would be stupid and IMO trading a star who still wants to be w/ your team seems to be stupid in today's NBA...but regardless, you fire the coach before you go down that road IMO.

They probably need to tweak the roster a bit more to win a championship if an Embiid/Harden/Maxey core is even capable of winning a title. But Im 100% sure that whatever this team's ceiling is, they wont reach it with Doc. I dont know if that makes him the "main" issue, but for sure its a big issue.

Doc will be gone. This city has never once failed at running a player/coach they no longer liked out of town. If we continue to suck, he'll be gone by February, otherwise he'll be ousted after we lose in the second round of the playoffs.

We spent the offseason recruiting players that got that dawg in them. Problem is that Doc has whiny puppy energy.
Fire Doc + make PJ Tucker the coach + start Paul Reed = time to start greasing the light poles.

There hasn't been one innovative play or (positive) highlight that you could attribute to the coach in the eternity that he's been here. Scheme is trash on both sides of the ball and the rotations are always guided by favoritism masked with faulty logic. I'm just over it
Follow the Stanford lead like I am and boycott watching until we're finally relieved of his presence.
I am. It's crazy, before Rivers got here I missed like 25 games in 15 **** years. Now i just watch Maxey highlights.
I hate that Maxey has to enter his prime with this guy running things. I imagine what an innovative coach could do with the tools this group possesses, even getting Joel out of the '90's/iso thing he is stuck in.

This x 1000.
And he's a basketball dinosaur. Funny how he and Kerr played in the same era, and yet Kerr evolved with the game and came up with original concepts to maximize the talent of a team another dinosaur (Jackson), who is right out of the Rivers mold, failed to get past the second round. Sound familiar?

No longer liked? It isn't a matter of liking or disliking him - this guy has clearly shown he is not a coach that can adjust, is stubborn to a ridiculous fault, pounds his veterans to pad his W/L, which will be his only claim to being in some bogus "best NBA coaches" lists, and has proven over and over and over he can't win in big spots. I only wish the only issue was 'not liking him'.

I think you're overreacting and misinterpreting what I wrote. All I'm saying is that Doc will be gone. The city doesn't keep people who can't get it done. Try and relax on the little things bro. No need to get your blood pressure all worked up over the way somebody worded something on an internet sports forum. Jesus Fkn Christ bro! I write a simple small paragraph about how Doc will be gone either by the deadline (if we continue to suck) or at the end of the season and it turns into this. I apologize for wording it wrong. Cheers...I Hope you live a hundred years dude.

What on earth are you carrying on about? Relax? Blood pressure? JFC? Apologizing for what, exactly? Dude, I responded to your post - no all caps, no exclamation points, just a response. It's a forum to exchange opinions, it ain't rocket science, and it certainly isn't anything more than a way of passing time and having a little fun.
Oh, and I sure as hell hope I don't live a hundred years.

If this is the kind of tension Doc creates on the board just image the havoc he’s created in the locker room. Just another data point proving Doc needs to be fired before the city descends into madness.
