I expect that his defensive impact will go down for the first half of the season while he gets acclimated to playing a new position. Ultimately, I think that his defensive impact will go up simply because he is still growing a lot as a basketball player.

Maybe the perfect position for him to individually impact the game defensively long term is the Center position, but there is no doubt that the best place for him to play on the Sixers is defending the 4. The goal of the team is not to maximize an individual's performance, but rather to maximize the team's performance.

There will still be a large long term role for Noel on the Sixers assuming that Embiid can stay healthy.

Embiid is gonna be a Center on Defense. Brown has already stated this. Noel will be the PF out on the court.

On the other hand, he'll be able to come around for weakside blocks rather than having to cover dudes in the post.

Also not sure about his steals. He'll be able to play the passing lanes more, get to do that quick swipe move he likes, etc.

Also remember that Embiid will only play ~30 MPG max, that's still potentially 18 MPG for him to be playing the 5.

Exactly. Nerlens was a monster at UK when he was the weak side defender. I'm predicting that there will be more reb opportunities for both Embiid and Nerlens by how much they alter shots. Defensively, I think they are a match made in heaven. As far as steals go, Nerlens might take a dip, but he's still picking the pockets of guards, much less PFs. I don't expect a precipitous drop or anything.

I still think Mirotic has a chance as long as he keeps getting big minutes the rest of the year.

Main reason I wanted Noel to win it this year was it would be cool having 2 rookie of the year players from the same draft class. Less so now with MCW gone. Still it would look good on Hinkie's resume.

Wiggins is 3-14 with 3 turnovers against the **** Knicks... He's going to be close to having a sub 13 PER after this.

I would not really care the resume of Hinkie if both Noel and MCW both get the rookie of the year. My concern is what if Noel win this year and boost up his value? I am given to understand that a value which is hyped is not a good thing especially on this team.

I rather hope to see Noel to be a wolf under a sheep body as of this season for his own sake in this team. It is pointless for him to strive for a good looking stats sheet right now, provided that this team is not on the win-now mode.

Just hand over this honor to Wiggins.

Not really care about winning ROY at this point. I just want to prove to people that Noel is a much better player than the overrated Wiggins. I'm not saying Wiggins sucks. But I don't think he's not that different with the empty 2 way scorers like Gay or Derozan. I don't think he can be a dominant scorer nor I think he's the type of SF who can anchor a team's defense ala Pippen, Kirilenko or Gerald Wallace. Yeah, I'm in the minority but I believe I will be right.

Anyway, I just enjoy watching Noel's development. Him being more comfortable, being dominant on the defensive end and with a surprisingly developing offense.

My favorite part was when they were interviewing AI, Noel hit that corner jumper then block KCP's dunk attempt at the other end.

Wouldn't complain if Nerlens sat the next few games out to rest that bruised foot.

As long as Henry sims doesn't start I'm alright! Getting a good look at Trob is by far more important Han playing a guy we let walk in the offseason.

It's still only year one for him. And I know what he did was against the Knicks, but his total set of tools are fantastic. The difference he makes when he plays as it goes to opponents shooting percentage as to when he is out are out of this world. I can only assume that will only get better once Embiid gets on the court and gets his feet wet with playing time. That is a very good combo to start, and build a team around. All we need now is a good PG and a valid scorer, and we will be off and running.
