Agreed.

He is a superstar, and that trumps any flaws in his game or fit on a team. The kid just IS a superstar.

With Wiggins the enticement was that he COULD grow into a superstar. With Simmons it is plain as day.

Update:

Murray vs. Briscoe....

Who do you think fits better with the big men we have, and if we added Simmons? Why is one a better fit than the other? Now that we've seen them in a handful of college games, anyone have an updated opinion vs before the season started?

Simmons is BY FAR the #1 pick in the draft and the drop-off to #2 is significant.

If we're lucky enough to add Simmons, it becomes essential we add a point guard who can shoot the ball. Murray is far superior to Briscoe in that regard.

Sincere question to you guys, how do you see Simmons fit in a half-court NBA game if he truly is a superstar? We all see he is extremely dominant in transition, but I don't know his role when the pace settles down. Will he be such a good ball handler that he forces the ball out of the hands of a PG? Is he a slashing 3, or an all-round 4? For what it is worth he has a decent FT%, generally that is a slight indication that he will be able to hit some jumpers in the future.

I see him as a put the ball in his hands and good things will happen kind of player

That's the absolute best way to describe him.

I truly believe Brandon Ingram is a better fit for us and is upside is pretty ridiculious. I think he and murray are the guys we serious need to target.

I'm worried that Ingram is just too passive. Someone threw out a PJ3 comp and that really struck a cord.

Simmons is going to be absolutely special.

I think PJ3 ironically suffered by playing behind KD...it allowed him to stay passive in a sense. His body also began to fall apart (in fact his knees were why he fell that far IIRC). Wiggins benefited from having no choice but to assert himself last year. Ideally, Ingram would pretty much have to do the same here too. Or at worst, he plays off of Jah (or for the real dreamers, Embiid). I like what I saw from Ingram last game.... I also remembered how hard it is to scout wings in college with the spacing and copious ammount of zone played.

I think you guys are getting a little carried away with Simmons. I think his upside is Odom but, Odom had a better shot coming out. think Simmons has the chance to be a star but, you guys are acting like he's in the LBJ, Curry type superstar, and he just isn't that.

College players have flaws, that doesn't mean they will always be flaws.

I honestly believe that Simmons is as good a prospect as we've had since Anthony Davis in 2012.

And Steph Curry wasn't Steph Curry coming out of school either. Here's his NBADraft.net writeup which is pretty in line with what people thought about him.

http://www.nbadraft.net/players/stephen-curry

30 - Stephen Curry - Davidson

Birthday: 3/14/88
NBA Position: PG/SG
Class: Junior
Ht: 6-3
Wt: 181
Hometown: Charlotte, NC
High School: Charlotte Christian

NBA Comparison: Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf

Weaknesses: Far below NBA standard in regard to explosiveness and athleticism ... At 6-2, he's extremely small for the NBA shooting guard position, and it will likely keep him from being much of a defender at the next level ... Although he's playing point guard this year, he's not a natural point guard that an NBA team can rely on to run a team ... Struggles defensively getting around screens ... Can overshoot and rush into shots from time to time (vs. WV) ... Hasn't had to deal with getting benched due to poor performance (shooting) which has allowed him to shoot through any slumps. Will have to adjust to not being a volume shooter which could have an effect on his effectiveness ... Doesn’t like when defenses are too physical with him ... Not a great finisher around the basket due to his size and physical attributes ... Makes some silly mistakes at the PG position. Needs to add some muscles to his upper body, but appears as though he'll always be skinny ...

Simmons fit is going to be a problem but if you get the 1st pick you have to draft him at this point.
You might move anybody from Noel, Embiid or Okafor anyway.

I get Dunn but why not over Jackson

NO WAY to Briscoe. Isn't this guy shooting under 40% from the foul line? That is putrid for a big man, much less a PG. I think it's safe to say he will NEVER become a good shooter.

There is no such thing as "fit" with us. Simmons is a franchise player and you trade anyone else to help him out if need be.

The most important players on our team, if we got Simmons would be him, and Embiid. Everyone else is tradable for better fitting pieces.

Ingram looks good offensively. Great length, nice handle, body control, decent form on jumper.
