From purely a value standpoint, it makes sense. T'Wolves are giving a self mandated deadline for trading him and they want him out "quickly". What kind of value do they anticipate him yielding?

On the other hand, if they are so hellbent on showing him the door, what kind of headache is he? I'm not sure he's worth bringing on board.

Maybe this is a distinction without difference, but is he a headcase, or has he just made it completely clear that he doesn't want to play for the Wolves anymore, and the owner wants it resolved as soon as possible?

Noooooooooooo

Forced his way out of his last (two) situations. Clashed with 2 young franchise (according to salary at least) players. On the final year of his deal. Hasn't indicated an interest in signing with Philadelphia.

Not interested in Butler unless they just want to hand him over.

If they would do Chandler instead of Covington I think that's about cheap enough where you pull the trigger (Unless he just really doesn't want to be in Philly)

Honestly if Thibs still has any say I could see him wanting TJ over Zhaire or the Miami pick.

Chandler, TJ and a protected first. Fine. Let's get it done.

I don't like the idea of Butler on a 5 year 190 million dollar deal at all. And that's what he's looking for apparently.

I wouldn't trade for him.

Butler has seen his best days, is not a great leader & is going to be severely overpaid starting next offseason. There are much better opportunities out there. Plus, he doesn't fit with our team.

I'm interested but not at that price. I'd do Covington plus a protected first rounder. They won't get three assets like that for him.

If they want Deing included he'd have to be part of a three way and we could do something like Roco plus salary relief maybe throw in some 2nd rounders too.

New GM search [SPOILER: It's Elton Brand]

If they are trying to dump Dieng as well I would accommodate that happily because we would be able to give up less talent.

Miami first and Smith would be fine, but other than that we may be able to give up only salary.

Saric and Fultz are off limits in my mind, and Keeping Covington would be a strong preference.

Do we have the salary to take on both and not give up Covington?

FWIW it would be more alarming for top player to be OK with lazy asses as Towns and especially Bust Wiggins, than to clash with them.

We could do it, but it is a lot easier if we include Covington.

I did it yesterday with the trade machine.

Butler and Dieng for Chandler, Smith, Muscala, Bayless and Miami first.

Salary wise it works.

Combine Heller wanting to play GM-behind-the-curtain with Harris being scared of making Silver mad by firing the guys who worked on the league office...

Also, shouldn’t the guys who worked in the league office be able to call around and get the pulse of the league???

After that, Butler walks in the Summer and you'll be out of cap space to sign a big FA bacause you're paying Dieng.

Yeah, obviously I wouldn’t do it if Butler didn’t want to sign with us, but if he does, then I’m fine paying Dieng for a few more years.
