You know, if we had dumped BB, traded Ben for Kawhi.....we would be better than the Raptors.

But let's just keep status quo.

This is exactly why #runitback irks me. However, that’s also judging the situation with hindsight bias. So it’s a tough call.

Hindsight is always 20/20, but if what could've been doesn't bother you in this situation, well you might want to check if your human.

It is irritatingly obvious that there is a very high probability that Ben will never be the player Kawhi is right now.

i like the idea of Noel, not sure how that works with bringing boban back too. (especially since i really want us to draft a big with a pick this year--i guess we could Gleague them for the year).

This has nothing to do with the thread, which has actually been a largely great discussion of different possibilities and options going forward. Complaints about the past belong elsewhere.

As far as backup PGs, I'd go after Corey Joseph.

I like the idea of corey joseph coming off the bench. But I'm not sure for Russell. That's bad defense replacing defense.

Like where?

This board can be confusing if you just want to post, tbh. Thoughts about a subject that isn't already started in a thread aren't too welcome.

Here's a spot for your complaints about Brett including not trading for Kawhi as he was acting GM at the time.

I don't understand the salary cap, but I'm thinking that the best team they can have out there next year is to run it back with a few changes. Use the MLE on a starting-level guard or a guard/forward that can shoot and defend (Beverley, Green, etc.), the BAE on a center, and a vet minimum of a backup guard or forward. I would use the money this way because I would expect the guard/forward will play a lot more than the center and it seems like the center market is flooded so hopefully they can get a decent option for cheap. Finally, I would definitely not use a roster spot on any of the players who had to get pulled in the playoffs unless as some emergency-level player for the minimum. I'd rather use their spot for a rookie or the possibility of signing a vet for the minimum near the end of the season (like Ilyasova/Belinelli).

Of course it won't shake out perfectly, but I think it's pretty realistic, I would imagine that the Sixers would be one of the best rosters on paper. The ball handling duties would be split between Simmons, Rose, and Butler.

Embiid/Noel/Bolden
Harris/Scott/Rookie
Butler/Smith/Rookie
Green/Redick/Rookie
Simmons/Rose/Milton

I’d like to bring Scott back, Bring back Ennis too while we’re at it. But i just cant see it happening. They’re both going to get paid elsewhere

Noel is what they need as a defender and big off the bench, just shouldn't overpay for him.

I just wonder if he would be happy playing less than 8 minutes a game some nights. :D

I don’t think the FO wants Noel back, and I don’t think Noel wants to come back.

Never say never, but my guess is the chances of Noel signing with the Sixers is extremely low.

They either need cap room or to use part of an exception to sign Ennis now. It’s not worth splitting the taxpayer MLE, so the way that happens is if Butler and/or Harris leave.

Dedmon is the big that the Sixers need off the bench, they need someone that can shoot the three so that they can work with Simmons. You have to plan around the idea Embiid isn't going to play a full 82, and you want someone who could play starters minutes that fits with Simmons, that was the idea with Muscala it's just that he's basically a tweener big who isn't quick enough for PF and not strong enough for C.

Noel is a terrible fit with Simmons.

Dwayne Dedmond is absolutely at the top of my free agent wish list. He is the perfect backup for Joel Embiid. He can shoot, he can play starter minutes if necessary and he'll be able to help up preserve Embiid during both the regular season and the playoffs. I think he's going to get some good money elsewhere, but if we could somehow sign him that would be absolutely awesome. We need a capable backup for Embiid, and I think it should be either Dedmond or a draft pick.

Dedmon probably gets a starting gig elsewhere and for more money.
