By the way, I love both of those trades as it gives us some more big bodies plus Foster to help tutor our youngs.

Holiday/Williams
Turner/Meeks/Green
Iguodala/Nocioni
Brand/Speights/Smith
Aldrich/Hawes/Foster/Koufos

The minutes at the 1-2-3 suddenly looks a LOT clearer rather than the logjam that currently exists.

Meeks, Nocioni, Speights, and Hawes would be pretty nice bench. All shooters who can spread the floor. One thing is for sure, they have enough bigs for Dwight Howard.

I still think Lou would be the number 1 bench scorer, but you did not mention him. Lou gets to the line.

Yeah, I was looking at the shooters off the bench. But yeah, I agree.

Imo Hawes will beat out Aldrich. Aldrich didn't dominate a weak Big-12 conference, in comparison, Turner was very easily the best player on his team and in his conference. Aldrich's a solid roleplayer. But again, it's about how this team will translate.

If I feel like this team has upside, then I'll be okay with letting Thaddeus go. I'd be really hurt, especially if it's to Jerry Sloan, who always makes things work and in that pick and roll system, Thad would be a killer weapon off the ball.

But if I feel like they're just patching together a 40-42 win team again, GOD I don't think I'd spend for tickets on a product that doesn't wanna prepare to win a championship.

Memphis has ALOT of project centers, for what reason? I don't know, that organization's been in shambles ever since Chris Wallace, and the proof of how bad that organization is, is that they are happy to have won 40-something games. Though they have no real-cap space.(Not till 2011 anyway and with Melo looking locked up?), no real talented young players. I mean, yeah, there's Mayo, outside of that?

And how they used their cap-space is just unbelievable.

One of THE worst organizations in sports.

If the sixers get 9 from Utah, Ed Davis, Udoh, or maybe even Greg Monroe may be there. if one of these 3 are there, would the sixers still take Aldrich?

I don't like the Cole Aldrich for Thaddeus Young trade. This move is the epitome of being impatient. I'd rather showcase Thad Young and then trade him halfway of the season. This way, I can get the best trade value for him.

I'd probably take Monroe over Aldrich, but not Davis or Udoh.

I would hope if Monroe or Davis was there at 9, the Sixers would take them. Which is why I see Koufos coming in return.

Jrue/Lou
Turner/Meeks
Iggy/Nocioni
Davis or Monroe/Brand/Speights
Hawes/Koufos/Monroe

Davis has star potential and is a great weakside defender. He would play great next to Hawes IMO. And I'd start him over Brand and let Brand teach him some offense. Monroe would work with Hawes too since he is more of a PF in a Center's body. He could easily play the role of a Tim Duncan with his passing skills/low post game.

Put it this way, if the deal with Utah goes through, I'd be ecstatic with either Monroe, Udoh, Davis, or Aldrich. I don't think you can go wrong with any of those, and if Koufos is coming as well, we have some mean depth at PF/C.

Assumuing Aldrich with either pick..but I guess its possible they target someone else too if Aldrich is gone. Not sure if Aldrich is the contigent there.

Sounds like Collins really likes Lou and feels he can get Lou to become a better defender which will give him more minutes potentially.

Foster for Kapono still out there too..but that doesnt necessarily have to happen tonight since no picks are involved.

Monroe is the guy I would have liked if they did not move up to 2. I'd be ecstatic if they could land him at 9. I'd be happy with Udoh too.

I think teams would rather get him now and have him for a full training camp. Trading for him in mid Feb only gives you a 2 month rent-a-player, then you might have to make a decision on whether to match an offer sheet without seeing a lot of him on your team. In addition, he would be showcased as a 4 which may not help his value much anyway since he is undersized there.

I don't see the sixers investing big money in him, so he could end up leaving after the season if he gets an offer sheet, so I'd rather take a chance on a lottery pick, be patient, and see if the player can develop with Jrue, Turner, Dre, Speights, and Hawes.

OKL is supposedly working OT to try and get that #10 pick from Indiana so if Aldrich is the guy Philly really wants, it behooves them to make the deal with Utah at #9. In either scenario, the guy they get back (Koufos/Haddai) are both fairly massive and at least fit the size requirement. Koufos was at least fairly well regarded not that long ago in the draft.

i like Thad alot...i feel we've kinda stunted his potential/growth with the plethora of coaches and systems we've had and also failing to develop him at the SF position.

but with that being said, as-is we have a better player(iguodala) who is going to be getting big minutes @ the 3 spot.Along with serviceable backups in Nocioni and Kapono.
with our need for A) a big defensive body and B) players w/o large contracts, Thad's value just fits the bill for a deal to build a more balanced roster for both now, and the future.

SF,

Are you thinking these are deals that go down once they see who falls and who is available?? Or are these deals that could go down earlier today?

SF,

Regarding the possible Utah deal. They were supposedly interested in a PF at 9 to replace Boozer. Would Speights be part of the deal too? Thad for 9 and Koufas seems too good to be true. Thad and Speights for 9 and Koufas still seems too good to be true in my opinion.

Two thoughts - First, what SF76 says indicates something I thought earlier, which is that Collins may be more willing to have Thad in a package than Lou. But the second and more important point is I would send Ed some flowers if he pulled that Utah trade. The Memphis trade is not so good even though Haddadi would be the biggest body on the roster and supposedly could develop into a decent defender. But to get a top 10 pick without taking on any meaningful additional salary for Thad is nice (as I recall we all thought the range we would get for Thad was 11 to 15, but Iggy would be necessary for top 10).

I also would be happy for Thad if this happened. Sloan is a great coach who would force him to develop his game and he would have a great point guard in Williams. They need a wing slasher badly and I think that could be a great situation for him.

I could certainly see why a team like Utah would be interested in Young. I have always thought Young was a heady player with a nose for the ball and very coachable in general. Put him on a team coached by J. Sloan and I could really see him flourish. I just hope Philly doesn't regret dealing him later because he has great talent and has been jerked around by different coaches, systems, and positions during his first few years in the NBA. It may be the only way to get a guy like Aldrich or Udoh however.

At 9 or 13 I would target....

1. Ed Davis (if he had Ty Lawson at the point he would of been a top 5 pick...great upside)
2. Larrry Sanders (Not raw on offense like some people think and block more than 3 shots in 55 games)
3. Aldrich (Steady big, good rebounder with a great outlet pass)
Patrick Paterson (Rugged tough glue guy think U. Haslem)
