That is really funny.

I just quote for jokes, but your point is valid.

But I doubt it gets worse.

We can trade Ben for marginal players at any time.

Hell doing the trade right now doesn't make much sense from the current team standpoint. Lets see if our own probably marginal talents are more than that.

It can always get worse

For example, what if Simmons were to suffer a serious injury before any trade is completed?

Team harmony could be impacted if they force him to play & that’s even assuming that he puts in anything like 100%

He’s going to be traded anyway so they should just send him home

They can send him home all they want but we want all his money, suck it klutch

1st in ORTG, 17th in DRTG.

Safe to say we need at least one piece who's a net neutral or better on defense in whatever Simmons trade we accept.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Barlow/Watford/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

That's why the Spurs duo of Murray/Vassell is so intriguing. Both are elite defenders that contribute on the offensive end (Vassell with shooting and Murray with passing, shotcreation, and moderate shooting).

Wes Unseld has the Wizards playing good on both ends. I don't think Bradley Beal is going anywhere.

Murray is hitting career highs in small sample, otherwise, Maxey in just his 2nd year is matching or beating Murray's numbers in his 2nd through 4th seasons.

So while Murray might be an upgrade right now, Maxey is hardly "along for the ride" and he certainly shoots, passes and defends better than Murray did at similar career arcs.

The point I think you were trying to make is that Murray is entering his prime and thus is a better starting option for this team this year, but Maxey will end up the better player.

Murray was 2nd team all-NBA defense in 2018, when he was 21 years old. Same age as Maxey. Maxey will not sniff that list.

That’s why I like Murray lol. Gotta give a little here. It would be Ben if he could shoot a little and not be liable at the line, but that’s gone way past it’s perimeters.

Green is up in the air yes he has positive impact overall but he may be on the wrong side age wise, and he would bring in a return too.

I’m not the one to massive changes but Ben, Harris and Green can be replaced imo. We haven’t really missed them to be fair.

It’s really 94 Hakeem to me. 95 is when Embiid gets his Drexler and all is balanced in the world again.

Maxey will never be as good as Murray is.

As prospects:
Maxey was a shotcreator with terrible defense, bad passing, and no jumpshot.
Murray was a shotcreator with good defense, subpar passing, and no jumpshot.

Murray improved his passing to lead G rate and developed his jumper enough to go from a non-shooter to a reluctant shooter.

Maxey can conceivably improve his passing and shooting to a similar degree, but it's an impossibility for him to ever become the defender that Murray is.

Not a fan of both Maxey or Murray. And I’d take a mid first over those two.

That’s said, i’d take picks (atleast 2 and a pick swap) and lotto talented perimeter players over those two and Ben.

My eyes is on the prize. Get me a top tier star to play with Biid. And paper assets and players with high upside is the mean to that end.

Dejounte Murray
.69ppp on PnR
.72ppp on ISO
^ more than half of all his possessions.

If I have to choose between Maxey or Dejounte to take over the game on offense, I’d choose Maxey (1.08ppp on PnR).

There’s just ABSOLUTELY NO WAY Morey and Doc will trade for Murray

And it's not a bad idea to move Green before it's common knowledge that he's pretty much cooked.

Yeah he had a hamstring injury, and Green ain’t the quickest going around. Old man hammies/calf injuries are frequent to older players, sometimes that’s all it takes little signs like that.

He’s past his apex and has a nice sized contract to fit into trades. He is a vet and provides exp that’s a positive just see how the deadline shakes up and what gets moved around.
