Usually if you get a guy in the top 7 who is an actual star, they are immediately ready to produce numbers. Rarely does a player come into the league and take 3+ years to get onboarded and used to the NBA speed before they start making impacts on games. If we draft someone in the top 7 and they aren't 10+ ppg, or aren't an elite 2 way role player at minimum, in the first two years then they aren't going to amount to much in the pros unfortunately. Of course there are a few exceptions.
Yea I'm trying to think which prospects they might be referring to? Maybe Bailey is the "best player in 5 years", but not sure who the player(s) is that are supposed to help win now (sans Flagg and maybe Harper).
The NBA MVP winners who won their first MVP in their fifth season and were drafted outside the top two draft positions are:
Larry Bird (drafted 6th overall)
Julius Erving (drafted 12th overall)
Who in this draft is the next Larry Bird or Dr J ?

Scouts described him as “unprepared to answer certain questions,” and his response to a question about his strengths and weaknesses—“I ain’t got no weaknesses and I got more than two strengths big dawg”
