Re: The Playoffs Thread
It's still hard to say that we couldn't have gotten Tobias if we didn't trade Bridges for that pick, other things could've been in that deal to get it done. I really don't think Jerry West wanted Tobias anymore.
I regret we didn't look at Shai more than I worry about Bridges though.
We could've done better, could've done worse....as most teams can say.

I always wanted to know the deal that was on the table that Brett said could've got them in the top 5 of the draft? Were the Sixers targeting Luka or Trae Young?

It was ('revenge Drew Hanlen tour') Fultz + #10 for #4 and I heard they liked either, but Luka especially.

Even with our sub-par guard rotation if the we want to get to the finals this is our chance. It was open season before the season started and it’s definitely open season right now.

That draft always bothered me even more than Fultz. I thought the Sixers had a great shot to add a player - SGA or MPJ. Imagine this team with either of those two. And yes - still could have gotten Tobias. Clippers were not going to pay him max money. They needed to move him so they could get a real superstar a la Kawhi.

We’re number 1 in scoring 123ppg (121 ORtg) on 52FG%?, while has second to the least amount of 3s attempts per game, among playoff teams
Which is impressive considering high scoring nowadays usually means jacking a lot of 3s per game.
*regseason 113ppg on 112 ORtg
This is how I’ve always envisioned our team.
Embiid + Ben you are playing a different ball game here entirely.
James + Davis fully fit made a mockery of 3ball spam. Made Robinson and Herro useless. And they weren’t a great 3ball team.
Play to our strengths
Embiid and Ben can work (Elite defense at bare minimum and base a over average offense with high ceiling thresholds that have been met somewhat with Embiid offensive dominance) it’s that the front office craps the bed on getting a third piece and quality bench depth until recently lol.
That’s the most frustrating part about Ben without even a jumper. Heck righty hook, and 70 % FT is easy 18ppg per game in playoff settings.
Then you have a brigade of gunners preferably ballhandlers, 3 and D’s, a stretch 4 and a backup big who is solid defensively (thank god for Howard) and like 2x Lowrys/Vanvleets’s that would be filthy.

IDK how real this actually was, but I recall the basic premise being that JJJ was the "consensus" pick at 4 but didn't want to go to Memphis so they were exploring alternatives. I think he eventually gave them medicals and they got comfortable with the pick. I don't recall anything being certain like the Sixers had a firm offer from Memphis and them turning it down. I don't even remember Fultz being theoretically involved actually, they seemed pretty intent on making that work.

was the intent to flip 4 + for Luka or draft JJJ? either would have been excellent but, obviously, Luka + Embiid would have been an end of days scenario for the NBA.

I haven't seen anything on that, just that the basic premise was the Memphis was thinking about moving back and so people were speculating the Sixers might move up. This wasn't like a "Billy King definitely tried to trade all his picks for Yi Jianlian in 2007" thing, it was a pretty soft rumor from what I recall.

This couldn’t be more wrong.
Maxey>>>>>>> Fultz. Fultz stunk from day 1
Seth > JJ are comparable JJ the better scorer. Seth is more efficient and a better defender.
Thybulle and Rocco are fairly even Rocco is the better scorer but Thybulle is definitely the better defender. Thybulle could become a generational defender.
Tobias >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> is Way better than Dario even comparing the two is insulting to Toby.

Yeah because im not saying who is greater than, im saying who’s 2.0. That’s an arrow sign.

So, Korkmaz or Mattise to start today?
I think Kork can make Trae work more on offense but Mattise gave us more flexibility on defense. I think Kork will start because Doc want to keep Mattise out of foul trouble.

Would be surprised if it wasn’t Korkmaz. Doc rides with what works.

Re: The Playoffs Thread
I think Doc wants to split up Ben and Tisse to have minutes/fouls guarding Trae. Therefore i think Furk starts.
