Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread Part 4
If we end up with Dame for Ben, I’d be looking to trade Tobi for a very good 3&D wing.
But until then, we have to cross finger that Tobi continues to improve with his scoring and rely on him being our second best go to guy after Embiid.

Jerami Grant would be a glorified Saric in this offense. He can't dribble. Harris can create off the bounce.
Jerami Grant would look like how he was with the Nuggets with this team.
And that would be far better than Tobias has looked.

Dame isn't happening.

Harris' creation is far overstated. And while I agree Jerami is far from perfect, he shoots league average with volume and can get to the rim.
Off backdoor cuts. He can't dribble to the rim. Look at his assisted bucket percentages inside the arc. They're pathetic. C level. Harris ain't special, but he's clearly better than Jerami Grant.

Go get Maxey a running mate that pushes Curry to the bench and let’s go
Haliburton and Ball were the guys. C&S 3 point shooters, elite passers with switchability defense.
Brogdon fits as well
In theory he is, but he's been pretty overrated as a defender and is very injury prone.

Offense, specially ability to run 2 man game and iso offense has way more value than defense and being able to be spot up shooter.
Tobi may make it to the allstar game, but i can guarantee you Jerami Grant wont.
Offense >>>>>>>>>>>>> Defense

There's no symbiotic value with a Harris/Grant(/Randle/Horford) + Embiid partnership. Someone like Saddiq Bey is the penultimate fit. Any player who can just space at high volume and hold their own defensively are base level upgrades.

Could work to our advantage, way less miles on his body.
Maybe 1 more year of Maxey off the bench and Curry/Brogdon starting then next year Maxey/Brogdon with Curry off the bench

Does anyone wonder why Tobias Harris, after a career of sub 12 AST%, is suddenly a distributor for us? Could it be because Ben is absolutely useless in the halfcourt and we need our 1 (ONE) perimeter offensive creator to actually put pressure on the defense and set up others to score?

The hidden humor in this post is that we suck at creation because Tobias can't do his job, while we're rock solid defensively because Ben can do his.

This is literally backwards.
We suck at creation because Ben Simmons, our "pg" can't do his job.
You're so backwards with this Simmons stuff. Simmons is trash, bro. How can't you see this. 11 ppg playoff trash.

Ben isn't a halfcourt creator? Shocker, we've known this since... um before he ever stepped on the floor in Sixers colors. Even Colangelo knew this and gave up valuable assets to get Fultz. Ben is here to defend, create shots in transition and attack the basket off cuts. He does all of this at a high level, which is why his impact is high, he drives wins and he's been a boxscore darling. Ben makes Seth and Danny better, just like he made Roco and Saric better.
Tobias retroactively makes everyone worse. No playmaking, no defending and not enough substantial shotcreation to mitigate this.

You know what's crazy? We also knew what Tobias was and he actually improved his game to become a creator in halfcourt offense and was quite a good defender last year, while Ben rested on his reputation and never tried to add anything to his game.

Oh brother. We're caping for the worst players ever here. The standards are on the floor.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread Part 4
Imagine trying to score in the halfcourt in the playoffs with a PG that can't dribble penetrate to the rim, can't shoot, can't shake defenders off the dribble, and is a mental munchkin that runs away from scoring opportunities.
It's not exaggeration to say that Ben Simmons literally sucks as a player in the postseason. His skillset is trash and his production is that of a vet minimum at worst, MLE player at best.
He's been the biggest anchor on this team.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread Part 4
The path to Ben Simmons becoming a Draymond-lite aka a playoff beast (that's a career 27% shooter from three) is much more realistic than Tobias Harris at the age of 30 re-inventing his entire game to become a non parasitic entity on winning.
I'd reckon if he keeps working hard and trying his best and reading a lot of books, maybe by 33 he could have a suitable handle for the modern game and not reliant on back to the basket. But then again it'll probably take just as long to re-work the mechanics of his jumper so he can get it off in space.

I don't even know what this means. The two of them have comparable advance stats while one plays only defense and sometimes transition (which means dick in the postseason) and the other is more well rounded and can score with the ball in his hands, something that actually matters in the playoffs.

Simmons blows, and yet still affects winning more than Tobias.
