Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread part V
Being a PG or at least listed at guard instead of Forward in the East made it "easier" to make all star teams and all defense.
Its all calculated. Its why AD doesn't like playing center too much because of the all NBA teams

Oh boy, now Ben is starting to try to change the narrative. It's always someone else, not him.

Excerpts..
Simmons was so convinced that new Sixers president Daryl Morey was about to reunite with his favorite franchise player that he started researching on the real estate front. If you had to pinpoint a moment when emotional ties were severed between Simmons and the only NBA franchise he has ever known, that may have been it.
Sorry people who still believe that the Rockets didn't back out at the last minute.
“I watched last night a player lead their team to victory where a thousand pounds of digital ink were spilled on how much he would never play for that team again,” Morey had said of the Green Bay Packers star who led a last-second win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night after looking destined for a divorce with the franchise just months ago. “Look, every situation is different, but we have a lot of optimism that we can make it work here. …Ben’s a great player, and we expect him back. We expect him to be a 76er.”
Cue the response.
“It’s total bull,” one source with knowledge of Simmons’ outlook said of Morey’s analysis.
Yet of all the problem areas to explore, there’s none more unyielding and impossible to ignore than this: People who have intimate knowledge of how he sees this situation continue to insist that he’s done playing with Embiid. There’s nothing personal about this choice, it seems, but the 25-year-old Simmons has clearly decided that his career is better off without Embiid blocking the runways in the paint that he so badly needs to succeed.
As he sees it, sources say, the organization’s choice to build its basketball ecosystem around Embiid’s style simply isn’t conducive to the way he needs to play. So while Embiid insisted to reporters on Monday that he wants Simmons back, this much is clear: The feeling is not mutual.
“It has run its course,” the source said of their pairing.
Truth be told, sources say Simmons thought he would have been traded by now.
When he met with the Sixers brass at the Los Angeles home of his agent, Rich Paul, in August, telling managing partner Josh Harris in direct fashion that he no longer wanted to play for his club, the goal was to avoid this sort of mess. Sources say the Sixers had come equipped with all sorts of reasons that he should want to stay, and even supported the argument with a statistically based presentation featuring the success of the Embiid-Simmons pairing. But his view, his uneasy feelings about the problematic fit remained unchanged.
Either way, the claim from the Simmons side is that there is no coming back from this. Even if he returned to avoid the stiff penalties, sources close to Simmons say the notion that he would up his trade value by re-engaging mentally and playing well enough to convince suitors that he might be willing to stay is, well, just that. Delusional.

Yup.
Its all calculated. Its a selfish career decision.

So even Collin Sexton isnt or was never available? Goes to show you there might not have been a viable package out there to trade Ben. If so, get ready for an extended standoff.

Meh I think if we put Ben on the table we could get Collin back, just because they are working on it doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be available for the right fit

Simmons is quite possibly the biggest p***y NBA player I've ever seen, and I've followed the league on a daily basis for 20 years.
Hindsight is a b*tch but man, in that 2016 draft we could've chosen Jaylen Brown, Brandon Ingram, Jamal Murray etc. and we walked away with the Cozy Aussie. Lazy mutherf*kr never worked on his game properly every offseason like his peers.

Let’s say Maxey turns out to be as good as we think he can be.
Do you think it will help Ben’s career?
Ben’s career will take a dive being in the dunker spot. While as Biid said during the interview, he could feast getting ORebs.
It was a career decision. He called it quits before he gets exposed. While the timing is perfect given there are teams who are great fit for him. Wait a little longer and that window may close.
Look at the Bulls.. he was supposed to be a really good fit with Vuc and Lavine. Then they now got Lonzo. That window has closed.
What if Wolves can get themselves a defensive big who can play with KAT? Think what happens if they got Drummond, would they still be going hard for Ben?

You guy's can continue to be disappointed in Ben's performances - that's fair - but from Ben's point of view it was a building up of frustration on how he was being told to play that has led to where we are now.
That and his Off Court Family issues led to what we saw in Hawks Playoffs.
What in the hell is this?
Guy has been so coodled here we fired 1 coach to keep him at peace, let him do whatever he wanted as training in the offseason and then hired a coach that was afraid of saying anything bad about Ben for an entire season
A big reason we don't have playmaking in the halfcourt is we're trying to acomodate Ben as a PG because he never wanted to try as a small 5 or as a PF.

There’s two sides to every story but if that report is true his decisions lately have been getting worse and worse.
Financially strung out, fines, strongarming a bigger organization, calling out and criticizing the franchise player, hiding behind everything while not giving clarity.
Ben definitely needs extra glass windows in his tower with all the stones he’s been throwing.
I mean what is the play here? Morey is smarter than Paul and Ben combined but his hand is forced. Or is it?
I mean a while back I mentioned this being close to a sunk cost fallacy (or getting zero return might in the end be better in the long run).

Morey could spin it brilliantly here.
Ben: “Why haven’t I been traded yet?”
Morey: “Sorry Ben we haven’t found the right deal.”
Ben (not thinking properly): “Don’t care trade me can’t you see the point I’m trying to make.”
Morey: .... “Well the Cavs offered us 2 second rounders and Love. (Not an actual deal but Morey playing 4DGMCHESS)
Ben: “.... wtf is that all?”
(If this report is official then karma incoming)
Morey is a G if he did this.
Ben gets traded for a crap package his image and perceived value (which is drowning by the minute) around the league is sunk to the bottom.
If Ben doesn’t get traded for a crap package and no one offers up a fair sum on trade value then Ben doesn’t play and loses money and value from his own self imposed exile.
I mean this has to rank as All TIME GOAT SIXERS drama.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread part V
again not going to get upset at every new drop lol.
This is all trying to make the move happen asap and before fines happen. Making the Biid/Ben relationship worse is simply next in line after Biid openly said he wants Ben back. All to make sure the message of "ben is not coming back" remains clear. I am sure once this doesn't get Morey to budge they will find another tactic.
And while it sucks...that is literally their job in this situation. i was pissed at the Maxey stuff but at this stage, they are simpl;y using every bit of leverage they got at this stage...you'll probably hear from camp that the team is practicing running more as the next olvie branch and then Ben and his squad will probably go "well actually Tobias and his books were simply too much" or something.
Its all apart of the stupid game of cat and mouse...and I am tired of it lol.

Man, Fertitta really got Morey back for leaving. That last minute pull out really broke Ben's brain and put us in this crazy situation we're in right now.

Btw ive posted here how JJ and Lavert on Jj’s podcast said how people around the league thought that the Ben-Harden deal was a done deal. So they were surprised when it didnt happen
