Would love Toppin or Avdija.

Toppin more so fits the mold of player that we desperately need alongside Embiid. Great size and measurables, willing shooter, elite athlete.

Avdija for the sake that he's just a really good basketball player so less Kelly Oubre on my screen.

I like both those players, but I think we need more of a stretch 4 who can play small ball 5. They're more wings in my opinion.

No idea who is realistic or how the salaries would match, but an athletic PF under 30 would be nice.

Zero interest in a Maxey/McCain/VJ backcourt.

Well buckle in…because clearly that’s the plan for the foreseeable future

Looking at Brooklyn's roster, they actually do have room for their 5 FRP's which is nuts, and their 2nd round pick. They drafted 3 PG's and a ball dominant Forward in Wolf lmao

Demin / Traore
Thomas / Mann / Saraf
Johnson / Whitehead
Clowney / Wolfe
Claxton / Sharpe

Agree, but it's hard to imagine Indy moving Toppin after the playoffs he had. He would be a perfect fit, but then his profile fits pretty much anywhere.

Yeah I don't see IND moving Toppin. He's locked up under a great contract for 3 more years. It would take a huge offer to pry him.

Indiana only gave up 2 2nds for him in trade in the last year of his rookie deal, then resigned him to an excellent deal.

We need to find the next Toppin.

Watching Nurse distribute minutes amongst this group, and ostensibly Grimes too, is gonna piss everyone off

Totally unrelated thought: Hansen Yang to POR at 16 feels like a league decision.

Indy doesn't have the revenue to pay a ton of tax, though. Trading Toppin and finding the 'next Toppin' themselves for much cheaper is their MO.

Dallas has a ton of bigs, and could use a guard.

I'm just gonna go ahead and copy and paste my choice for the offseason. Yeah...Jalen Smith. Third year in a row I've wanted us to get him.

Maybe a deal centered around a McCain for PJ or Smith swap?

Does it make sense to sign Grimes if we have to pay him more than $8MM/year?

After last night, we have a log jam at the 2-3 wing position (Oubre, Edwards, Council, Gordon, VJ).

Per Spotrac, we have $18.6MM cap space left in the First Apron. After signing VJ, we'll be at ~$7.5MM.

Offloading Drummond and Gordon creates ~$8.5MM. That brings us up to $16MM.

We have club options for Lonnie Walker and Jared Butler. They are no longer needed with our roster, we decline and save $5.2MM.

By offloading the four players above, we're at about $21MM. I'd try the following:

1) Sign Yabu and Grimes for max $18MM combined (Try to get it close to $16MM)
2) Draft a PF/C in the second round tonight, which estimates first year salary to be $2.1MM

That leaves ~$1MM left in the First Apron and our roster as follows. I'd probably try to trade Council for another PF/C so we have size when Embiid is sitting.

Maxey / McCain
Grimes / VJ
Oubre / Edwards / Council
PG / Yabu / 2nd Rounder
Embiid / Bona

At this point you bring back Yabusele and let Grimes go. We didn't draft Edgecombe third overall to not play. Then again, I can see him being brought along slowly if we do bring Grimes back. I'm not the biggest Grimes fan on this forum, but I'm fine bringing him back.

The scenario I see with him is Indiana having a reset year with Hali out. Otherwise, he might be too costly to pry him away.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Grimes/Edgecombe/Gordon
Oubre/Edwards
George/Watford/Barlow
Embiid/Bona/Drummond/Broome

The nice thing is Oubre would have to go out in a trade like this. I love his energy etc but he’s just not really an efficient offensive player and isn’t the rebounder or weak side defender this team is lacking between George/Embiid.

Maxey/McCain/Lowry

PJ and Lively for McCain, Oubre, Gordon, and Drummond works on salary.

I wonder if we S&T Grimes for a guy like PJ? gets us our big, frees up the guard jam. it's a little on the expensive side...

of course someone mentioned above, 'finding the next Toppin" i think there is a good argement that we found the guard version of that guy in grimes, if we could lock him up reasonably. not sure if that means trading one of the other guards down the road a bit.

What's the push to trade McCain? He could be one of our top scorers this season and is on a reasonable contract.

If anyone needs to be traded it's PG.

Per CBA we can't S&T a player who wasn't on our roster from the beginning of the prior season. We could S&T Yabu.

I don't know what you think Nurse is going to do with a rookie
