Re: Trade Deadline Rumors Thread
I also in no way advocate moving Holiday to the shooting guard position. He is a one all the way. We seem to forget his struggles at UCLA due to Collison playing the point at that time. Thankfully Holiday didn't play the point there or he probably would have been drafted a lot higher. Lets keep him at point guard please. The idea is to get a scoring 2guard to pair with him and Iguodala and let Iguodala/Jrue share the initiation duties...Or let Turner take over at the point and move Holiday. I think that is what this is coming to.
Lets please trade for Monta Ellis...Please...He's there for the taking.

Re: Trade Deadline Rumors Thread
theres no way we are getting granger without giving up jrue or iguodala... indiana, unlike GS, is winning right now, and playing well...
no way GS deals us ellis for turner and hawes... and i doubt hawes ok's a trade so lets forget that...
we can convince them that lou is alot like ellis, and can come off the bench for them, and give them turner and nocioni's expiring and take someone back they may not want on the books
i think you HAVE TO do that deal
and regarding turner or jrue for the future at PG? thats easy... jrue... hes better than turner right now all around, defense and shooting, and hes 21 to turner's 23 i believe

Management needs to tell Collins to try Turner at point, or give him more minutes (30 per game) so that he can show his stuff. If he can't then trade him by all means. don't let him waste on the bench, and then trade him, after which he blossoms into a poor mans grant hill. I will be done with this team if that happens.
Simple solution. Move Holiday to SG, Turner to PG, and Iggy stays at SF. Trade Meeks, Nocioni, and Lavoy Allen for a stretch pg (Steve Blake, Carlos Arroyo, Ramon Sessions, Mo Williams, Jose Calderon) or a sixth man role player to come off the bench.
Amnesty Brand, acquire your big man through free agency this summer.
Enough of this half hearted ballsheet

Why does everybody think it's straight easy to just move Jrue to off guard?
For one Jrue probably wouldn't like that at all and for all of the talk about Turner's psyche, what would that do for Jrue's? "um ...hey Jrue? Yeah we are going to move Turner to the point because you have been ass at it and we don't feel like you are a point guard at all..so uhh...yeah no hard feelings?" I can't imagine that would go over too well for a young player...ya know?
and even if he was cool with it...the main reason Jrue fell to us in the draft was due to how poorly he played off the ball at UCLA. I know it would probably be a tandem type thing but yeah not to so sure Jrue is a pure shooting guard either.
It's just that once again it seems like we are being told to drop everything and change it up for one guy over another...that seems off to me. Besides this isn;t the season to make major changes like position changes...that's more of an offseason type thing. If they stand put all they should do is give less Meeks time and if Turner isn't playing like **** more Turner time. and less trips to LouWillVille.
The offense looked good yesterday until the Lou Will show started. Iggy was attacking and dropping dimes. and Jrue was just straight attacking and we were getting out on the break.
I'd like another scoring option but unless we unload dudes I'm not up for position changes. It does nothing for our young players but **** em up.
I'm not gonna talk about the position change issue , what I wonder is Jrue , Iggy and Turner have never been started together even once in their career , do they ? So our coach staff refuse to even try it before they made judgement that these three guys don't fit each other. I mean you will never know if you don't try and you can't just decide something by your imaginations.

Re: Trade Deadline Rumors Thread
So would we really be okay with Jrue/Ellis backcourt? It's not a terrible matchup with a Miami Heat team that has Chalmers and Wade. At least size wise, Jrue can match Wade and Ellis takes Chalmers.
I'm just concerned about the lack of size at PG/SG with that rotation.
Of course, if it truly would make D12 add Philly to his list because of wanting to play with both Ellis and Iggy, then I think you have to do it.
Jrue
Ellis
Iggy
1st round pick
D12
That's literally sickening in terms of defensive potential with all 3 of Jrue/Iggy/D12 on the floor. It could be deadly depending on who plays PF. Maybe John Henson in a draft day deal of our 3 picks to move up in the 1st?? LOL Ellis would be surrounded by 2 All Star defenders and 2 other young defensive-minded players. 2001 Sixers anyone?
Of course, this all hinges on multiple rumors and I doubt any of it happens.

This team will regret Trading Turner to GS, Turner will flourish there and everybody in Philadelphia will look like idiots, Ellis is not the answer. The only trade i'll do with GS is a Jrue for Curry straight up. No kidding, ET would average atleast 20/6/5 in Golden state atleast.

Re: Trade Deadline Rumors Thread
Don't want to see ET traded, but if you head into the playoffs with Ellis and a healthy Hawes you have a completely different look to the starting 5. Jrue/Ellis/Iguodala/Brand/Hawes with a bench core of Lou/Thad/Vuc is a very nice 8 man rotation. It just seems too risky to hold all your assets until this off season given there aren't a ton of stars available to spend your cap space on...if a good deal presents itself, you probably need to pull the trigger. Of the 'bad boys' I probably prefer Beasley over Ellis, but I get how Ellis helps the team.

beasley does nothing for us... at all....
i really think the ONLY way we are getting ellis without iggy and jrue (and i doubt that it happens without one of those 2 still) is turner, lou, nocioni, and our first for ellis and a throw in to make salaries match
even then, i would do it in an abolute heartbeat... jrue and iggy around ellis is so perfect i dont even need to explain it
we would have to go out and get a backup PG and SF, although i would assume one of the throw ins from GS would be one of those positions, so we would need to pickup the other position

Does releasing Le Francisco Elson mean anything other than just not needing him anymore, or is it making room for a deal I wonder?

Elson doesn't even play when he was here with Hawes out.
His contract was able to be guaranteed for the rest of the year if they don't let him go.
Perhaps we are really hoping for some changes in this team.

Re: Trade Deadline Rumors Thread
As painful as some of these end of game scenarios are to watch without us having a go to scorer, I hope the team doesn't over react for short term gain and trade away a long term piece just to make this non-contending season a little more successful.
At some point one of Jrue, Iggy or ET will be traded unless we get D12 to plop down between them in FA, but any move of one or more of those three or Thad or Vuc needs to bring back a long term piece in return.
I don't think JTI are incompatible, only incompatible without an alpha scorer and low post scorer to go with them. Problem is, you probably have to move one of them eventually to get one of those missing pieces.
Scenario - Trade Turner or Jrue because they really both need to play PG (not getting into the argument about it, just going with the general sentiment here) - do you acquire another young guy that is simply a better fit or look for someone in the Monta Ellis/Granger/Kevin Martin range?
Ellis/Granger/Martin are essentially trying to open up a contending window for the next couple of years while they and Iggy are in their prime/under contract. IMO, they are not enough to make us contenders, just improve us one round in the playoffs and they eat into the cap space created if you amnesty Brand. Makes us better this year, but IMO does not lead to true contention unless you think D12 suddenly puts us on his list.
Therefore, I look to trade Jrue/ET only if it brings back a young scorer or big man or is in conjunction with a plan to add a third prime-age player.
Scenario - Trade Iggy - Moving him for Ellis, Granger or Martin is even less sensible. Again, short term improvement, but not nearly enough to put us over the top. Basically lateral moves.
A guy like Gay on the other hand, although I don't love his contract, is 25 and locked up for a number of years down the road. Gives you time to sort out whether Jrue/ET work with a more scoring minded SF and add to the young core, maybe make a run at K-love in a few years when he opts out.
So unless we are getting a franchise level player or going/staying young, I don't move Turner, Holiday or Iggy for short term gain, same with Vuc and Thad.
Anyone else, including Lou, yeah, I'lll make that short term (2-3 years duration counting this one) move for an older guy who provides immediate help.

I think Granger may be the most over-rated player/scorer in the league. It's really neck and neck between him and Joe Johnson.

A couple of years ago he was under rated, but now I would tend to agree with you. His game seems to have declined slightly as his salary has gone up sharply.
Turner/Holiday for someone like Paul George makes much more sense for the Sixers, even if we have to throw in a draft pick and someone like Lou. That kid is eventually going to be a scoring terror with size.

As I said earlier, I would totally do Iguodala for George. I think he's really going to be good.

Absolutely would do, but unfortunately I think Larry Bird knows it too. Unless they go into win-now mode I don't see them wanting Iggy for George.
