With Hinkie we were going to have the whole orchard.
With the clown show in charge now, we'll be lucky to end up with one or two apples.
But hey, as long as we can have them now, right?

Well I would hope Teague at 28 is currently a better player than Noel, but that's not what this is about. Noel is a valuable trade chip that shouldn't be wasted for a 1 year rental of an average PG. Again there is no need to rush things and this deal is doing exactly that.

When did the Hawks hire Hinkie? I missed that part...

Why doesn't anyone look at the possible POSITIVE's to any deal?
I like Noel and am fine with keeping him, but If Ish friggin Smith can elevate the play of others, Imagine what an actual NBA point guard could do.
Teague played in a system that Brown likely wants to eventually install here (if we ever give him talent to do so) and played well. Maybe he comes in, thrives and allows Simmons/Embiid/Okafor etc to develop more rapidly.
People complaining about paying him must not see the Evan Fournier/Allen Crabbe 20 million dollar a year deals being proposed in other threads.
Its a rumor, just like the Rose deal and Okafor for #3. Relax

Actually, there kinda is a rush. Noel's contract is quickly ending. You've gotta make a decision soon.

If we could get a 2-3 year deal out of him after next year and say ATL 2017 unprotected then I would be in. Maybe we just want his bird rights so that we can sign 2 max deals next summer and then resign him.

Even though I wouldn't like it either, but if it were Schroeder instead of Teague, I'd be way more on board with this.
This is trying to get Kyle Lowry again, and Teague just isn't Lowry.

Positives: I quite like Teague as a player. Tough, can shoot, has lead a good team for a number of years
Negatives: This deal will look **** aweful in a years time when Teague leaves or we overpay. We don't have defence at Centre.
Aweful: BC is running the show until the old guy drops off the perch. Just a horrid hire.

I know where you're coming from, but I think we've seen Teague at his maximum potential. Noel is still younger and trending upwards. Also players like Teague are more often to come by than Noel. I'm not opposed to dealing Nerlens, it's just that this one makes way more sense for Atlanta than it does for us.

Trading young big for older small isn't great (paging Rod Strickland), but I'm not looking for any towers to jump off of. Teague would be a huge upgrade at a position of need. Didn't we have his brother at some point?
Another bright side is that this deal means no Derrick Rose.
I love it that we're in the mix this offseason. So tired of sitting out the summers.

It is a little more than that in fairness. The Bulls deal was just made up.

Re: Jeff Teague for Nerlens Noel discussed, not imminent
I'm surprised that I come to this thread and read this and then see how negative most people are about it.
I have to think about it I guess, and the value doesn't seem great, but I'm not pissed at first blush.
Noel REALLY fell out of favor with me this year due to how poorly he played for much of the year. His potential is severely capped if he is that reliant on guards for his offense, and can only defend the 5.
I consider his only opportunity on the Sixers to be a back up center.
If a trade like this happened it would most likely mean that Okafor would stay which has always been my preference. Okafor fits less than Noel, but is much more talented.
I don't care about Teague's age or impending salary. He is a really good player, and would improve is immediately.
Couldn't we get more for Noel though if we were going to trade him?

Even if we do this, I still am not certain that an Okafor trade is off the shelf, especially if they love Dunn. It would kill me a little bit to see 2 of our last 3 top draft picks be traded, thus wiping away most of Hinkie's work.

Trading both Noel and Okafor and keeping the dude with two stress fractures would be malpractice.

Not a fan of this rumor at all or Jeff Teague.
