Sergio is elite playmaker, passer, and overall high character guy. He will make Phillies bigmen better.

Say what you will about Segrio, but at least he isn't signed to a 2 year deal and named Gerald Henderson.

Unrelated, I really like some of the views Euro broadcasts do.

I don't think Sergio would tell every othe NBA team vying for his services over the past, what, 5 years(?) to screw off to just settle on last year's worst team and be a bench player. He's our starting SG next year and is only signing for one year because he wants to maximize his value for that second contract. At least that's how it appears to me. He'll inflate his stats playing on a guard deficient team.

I thought he was a pure PG...

He is. I get him and Rudy Fernandez mixed up. Either way, the circumstances in which he's coming over are still valid.

Hypothetically.. if a trade is made at some point this year for a PG (using one of the bigs)... that would mean that TJ would be the odd man out? or they would keep 4 pgs?

they wouldn't release Sergio or Bayless after just signing them, right?

I think Baylee would get slotted as SG and still get minutes, and keep TJ, really think he is going to play his way into our 2nd string guy behind Sergio by the end of the year with Bayless ' time coming as SG in small fast line ups

Bienvenido Sergio!

Well, as a Spaniard I have followed Sergio's career closely since he was playing at Estudiantes (before coming to Portland) and I can tell you that the guy has improved a ton since he came back to Spain after his first stint in the NBA. His shooting is much better, his passing skills and vision remain as good as before, now he does not take stupid and uncontrolled risks and now he is able to play a little defense, although it will probably be below average in the NBA. I am really happy for him, I am happy for us, Sixers fans, I think he will be an exciting player that will help our young bigs. If Noel remains on the team and he is working on his hands this summer, he is going to enjoy playing basketball way more than with Ish Smith, even if they had an awesome chemistry, everybody raves about Sergio's passing and willingness to make his teammates happy.

I would not expect Sergio to play more than 25 minutes per game and I do not expect Sergio to be the default starter, I think he can get there, but he will have to beat Bayless this summer. If he bolts after this summer, there is not much of an issue either for good or bad, as he is a 30 years old PG.

I wish Philly at least had a team option for Sergio's second year, but he probably only wanted to sign a one year deal to prove his worth again in the NBA. Sergio probably has designs on signing another big contract after this season if I had to guess and probably would only do a one year deal. Just a guess though. I think Henderson's options were a bit more limited.

I always liked Rudy way more than Sergio but after that injury he suffered while in Portland, he has not been the same kind of player and he has not evolved at all, I do not think that he is mentally prepared to come back to the NBA although I would not be surprised. I do not want Rudy on a Sixers uniform.

I am guessing that Rodriguez is Philly's way of saying "No Thanks" to Minny on the Rubio deal?? Or could that still be a thing?

I feel like between Rodriguez and Simmons, we need to keep Noel. He would be so much more productive with those two on offense.

As someone before was comparing them

Defense: Rubio >>Sergio
Shooting: Sergio >> Rubio
Scoring: Sergio >> Rubio
Passing & Court vision Rubio > Sergio both are elite passers but I prefer Rubio by a tiny margin.

And now you guys are going after Rudy Fernandez. I love it! Two veterans who have been playing at a high level for years and will be instantly comfortable playing with each other. I also love themes and turning Philly into NBA team Espana is a lot of fun.

It will be interesting to see how Sergio meshes with our big guys. Gotta imagine the Simmons/Sergio duo will get them some nice looks. TJ and Nerlens had a nice chemistry last year too.

We don't even know what the terms of Henderson's 2 yr deal are. It might be 1 yr with a team option on yr 2 or a partial guarantee for year 2. I wouldn't start griping about lost cap space until you know for sure it's truly gone.

Was the rest of the league aware of Sergio's interest in returning to the NBA? It seems weird how we were able to get him at such short term and figure.
