I think he will settle in as slightly below league average actually.

he's going to get consistent minutes and not have to look over his back to see if he's getting pulled...and the team has less pressure overall. Similar thing is happening w/ Joe and Bassey.

Its hard to be a young guy on a contender in which every single **** up is magnified...you can see it some w/ Maxey...whose best games have come in situations in which no one had any expectations that the team would win and he could just play freely because Doc couldn't pull or micromanage him.

I keep saying it I still think the constant fear of closing windows has hurt the franchise. Every move has been to win it asap when that should have been a gradual thing. The Celtics are the best team in the league (throwing up in mouth brb) and a large part of that is their main core continuity in which their worst years ironically came when they went star hunting for Kyrie and Hayward at expense of said continuity losing Horford to us (sadly). They have been rumored to trade one of the Js for years now, Smart as well....and while they haven't won **** either (hopefully it stays that way wakka wakka) and thus you could have said they should have made those trades...they remain at the top because their main core is set in place and new guys can come in and thrive... we have been a team of mercs every year and constantly looking for some new and mostly worse guy to come in and save the day off the scrap heap whereas other teams seem to have guys waiting in the wings that can come in and contribute at a moments notice...while Korkmaz has asked for two trades in his Sixers tenure and we kept an open roster spot all season only to prematurely use it on Dedmon....who is hurt.

I don't entirely agree with the Maxey point. Reminder the guy was the main reason we got 2-0 against the Raptors last season and he also helped with 2 big games to tie the Heat series.

Guy is young, every young guy has his struggles, but that doesn't mean he's not performing under pressure. Team isn't designed currently for how he plays and we have stupid expectations because he has been in some linear progression since last season.

About Matisse, I can see him getting to above 30% to 33% or something but on the Blazers he's gonna need to hit more shots so teams don't double Lillard, on Volume there is no way he Shots on league average.

That would mean he's a totally different player to what he was here or that he was tanking on purpose to get traded

I think there’s also some awkwardness building around Embiid. How many reps do you think a guy like Maxey had playing next to an iso scoring center before he got to Philly?

If he keeps up this shooting for the remainder of the season his next contract will fast become an albatross. Remember his rookie year he had a 15-20 game hot streak from 3 before he got hurt and missed a couple weeks? This is that all over again. His shot mechanics are still as bad.

It isn't about shooting it is about whether Maxey can create for himself or is dependent on Hardens gravity for efficiency.

If he can't there is no way you can give him Poole money if he can then he will get that money either here or someone else. Sadly just on name recognition he may anyways.

Healthier to not even worry about it, though, he's off the Sixers and nothing he does from now on has any relevance to the team or our fate.

Thybulle 5/6 from 3 yesterday. He had 4 3s the the game in Portland

Two 3s, 1 stl, 4 blocks and the highest + - on the Blazers

Why are we worried about Thybustle? he was always a very limited and mediocre player. This is not me being biased, when a good player is being run out of town I acknowledge it, like Jimmy Butler for example.
Defense matters, but offense is always first.

Not sure what you’re actually complaining about, Mik. We tried to keep our core together for years until one of them literally quit, and lots of our worst moves were based on building around that core long term. The Tobias max, the Horford signing, Fultz trade, etc were 100% about surrounding Embiid and Simmons with guys who could work with them. Boston got lucky and happened to draft two guys in the top 3 who developed amazingly well, that group came into title contention organically. We ended up with one guy who did that and one who did the opposite, meaning we weren’t in a position to stay the course. (Feels pretty obvious that we just should’ve build better around Embiid than complaining that we should’ve stuck with Simmons, Cov, Dario, etc, right?)

Also we definitely haven’t had much more turnover at the margins than most teams trying to break through to a title. That just happens with teams, it’s rare for a good team to keep more than a core 3 or 4 together over 5-6 seasons. I also don’t think a majority of our win now moves have been blunders, and if it’s 50% or better we can’t really complain.

Also Maxey has played major major minutes this year and last, he’s never been worried about getting yanked or not getting shots. And not many people think the best development environment is a bad team where you get to chuck all day.

We’re not title favorites because only one of our Process top picks was a home run, and because we’ve messed up enough key moves around him. It’s not a big picture strategy error imo, it’s about those individual moves.

Embiid nails it. The thing Matisse felt was expectations. The same thing that Ben felt. Not a coincidence that neither player improved at anything while they were here.

Yeah but Matisse is a nice guy and he simply doesn't have much offensive talent, unlike Bum Simmons, all the talent in the world wasted for the primmadonna.

"but it's all about putting the work in, especially shooting"

Embiid essentially confirms the theory all along that Thybulle has bad work ethic and never worked to improve.

I absolutely believe that Matisse mindset was closer to Ben's than maybe Embiids or Maxeys despite having a nice guy persona.

There are numerous things we can point to throughout Tisse and Ben's careers in comparison to the latters...

Hmmm, maybe there's a correlation to low stress, low expectation (and consequently low success) environments and prospects not improving their game:

Fultz - UW went 9-22
Thybulle - Same UW team as Fultz. Only had a decent team his senior year
Simmons - LSU went 19-14; missed tournament. Didn't even play in the NIT

Conversely...

Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey - Kansas and Kentucky where pressure is always highest.

I mean, it was reported that Thybulle choose to work on his handle last off season (he even posted videos). That's just silly for a prototype 3 & D guy.

That's also why your entourage and who's around you matter, someone should put him aside and told him "we need to correct your entire shot from scratch and that is gonna be our entire work, nothing else matters"

You'd think someone with such a great +/- would play at the end of the game, no? Perhaps that stat doesn't really hold much weight.

I never said he's a closer or a star player man relax. I'm just saying he's more valuable than some of u thought but whatever I'll go on rooting for him. And ya Blazers are my 2nd favorite team, no big deal
