That was right after we won the lottery in 2016. It's just a damn shame that pick led to....ummm...nevermind.

What is the reasoning behind this? I mean any reason for all this (I'm a fan as well, just like to hear others reasoning).

And joker clearly had a strong case (embiid was probably better, but jokic kept it close). It's not even like shai and Steph has stronger cases over joker in 22/24 than Embiid below jokic in 2023.

I have been out of the loop recently. How is Embiid? Is he ready for the upcoming season?

You mean through his shoe brand, the one with Martha Stewart as an endorser?

"I've gotten to this point because of how good I am at both ends of the floor. If you ask me to change the way I play, the only guess that I have is either play offense fully and take plays off defensively, which doesn't suit me," Embiid continued. "I don't think I'd ever be OK with that. I don't know. We'll just wait and see. If it's gotta be that way, it's definitely going to be an adjustment, but I don't see that happening."

Gross. Please let him have a good 20 game stretch and deal his ass immediately for whatever is the best offer you can get.

Embiid actually has been on dat matador defense for quite some time now, we just pretended otherwise and acted like he is still that defensive anchor when he is closer to Okafor these days.
So he has already been doing what he pretends he will never do, which is to not give a **** on defense.

Embiid playing full-time defense and part-time offense could bring a championship here. Of course, that presupposes a healthy Embiid, which is bigger ask.

You know what would help Joel Embiid stay healthy? Starting an actual PF next to him instead of a 35-year-old Paul George.

He's going to be asked to clean up all the rebounds and deter all the shots. I already see him twisting and turning awkwardly trying to defend 3 guys on his way to the ground.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Grimes/Edgecombe/Gordon
Oubre/Edwards
George/Watford/Barlow
Embiid/Bona/Drummond/Broome

If he didn't demand to also take all the shots and do his iso thing from the nail, it would be fine. Less offense more defense.

YES.

What Sixers fans need to do more of is point the finger at the top 10 scorer of all time with an on/off postseason swing of +23.64 in his career
Jokic: +3.83
Tatum: +4.21
Luka: +10.25

For not adjusting his shot diet to accommodate Kelly Oubre or Al Horford or Tobias Harris.

I think he's forced to take more risks defensively than offensively. I don't think his shot diet or FGA/g are causing him to be injured all the time.

Is his plus/minus the reason for choking his way out of the 2nd round a half dozen times now? Asking for a friend.

Then tell him to just focus on rebounding. Only contest shots at the rim coming at him.

Why even play the games at this point? whoever has the best on/off automatically gets handed the title and MVP!

Apparently not, it's because "he had no help" and "he was unlucky with injuries" I guess. Fans definitely didn't see what he did wrong in playoff games apparently, how he struggled with double teams, how his decision making on offense was often poor and more importantly how he was always gassed at end of games. I'm sure all of this is down to how "little help" he apparently had.
Truth is, Embiid developed a regular season friendly game that didn't translate as well as we hoped into playoffs, when the defenses are more intense and organized, even if we ignore for a moment his garbage fitness.

My favorite stat is the one Arsenal shared a while back---- in playoff games where superstars go +10 or better: LeBron, Durant, Tatum, Giannis and Jokic are undefeated by a combined record of 247-0.

Curry is 68-2, Luka 16-1, and Booker is 14-1.

Meanwhile, in 24 such cases Joel Embiid is only 19-5, including in possibly the biggest game of his career (ECSF G7 2019).

Joel Embiid has had his fair share of playoff lows, but his lack of postseason success more than anything is a representation of the Sixers inability to build competent rosters around him.

There isn't another player that's been sent into every April with expectation of burdening the half-court scoring load, hitting every game winning shot and anchoring the defense simultaneously for 38+ minutes a night. Why? Because it is impossible.

The nearest modern comparable in terms of do it all anomalies to him is Giannis Antetokounmpo & he stood in the corner conserving energy while a DPOY caliber Lopez anchored the paint.

Sixers fans know this, btw. They hate the ownership, they hate the roster every season, they hate the coaching every season, the hate the braintrust, they want everyone fired all the time... until it's time to discuss Joel Embiid in good faith.
