Totally expected Batum would go back to LA. Good luck to him there, I'll always root for the guy after how he played for us.

Get Dinwiddie in here for vet min to start beside Maxey. Perfect place for him to resurrect his value on a 1-year prove-it deal.

I agree with you on all parts of this post. A rebounding, dirty work type. Yet I mentioned just letting Paul Reed and KJ Martin play these roles and people don't like it. I'd personally like to know what trade options are out there. Brooklyn looks to be selling...DFS? Washington too, but they have nothing unless you like Marvin Bagley. Would Detroit part with Isaiah Stewart? Utah is selling but who TF wants to deal with Ainge? John Collins is ideal and Utah did try to poach Reed last summer, so there is that. I think Collins is the one to keep an eye on.
We can't afford John Collins. He would bust us through the Apron hard cap.
We can only afford one more guy in the $10m/yr range. Which brings us back to Kyle Anderson.
I assume after that we will mostly fill out the roster with a lot of minimum deals. We have 2 two-way contract's, an exhibit 10 contract in the mix, but at least Bona is prob on the 15 man roster. I would still think we add five or six more competitive pieces once people realize they might have to play for the minimum. I assume Lowry and Covington are the most likely candidates.
Looking at Gordon and Lowry, you would prefer that they are not in your top 8 or 9. I actually like Marcus Morris last year and thought he still looked like a solid bench player.
Nevertheless, I think they need two or three more guys that can be part of the regular rotation. I don’t know if Gordon, Cov, and Lowry types hold up all season. I like to keep them on the back burner most of the season. Then if we really need them at some point, they would be relatively fresh

I had began to trivialize the value of entry passes into the post and inbounding until he came into our lives.
Will remember the Batum era super fondly.

I think Drummond might be our 5th best player, but Morey has the resources to fillout the roster so it’s not as bare as the middle of the Suns roster.

I don't think Spike is talking about teammates.
Who is he talking about?
People within the organization. Not players. I don't think Spike has player sources. He gave no indication he was disliked by teammates as far as I know.

100% his wife wanted no part of Philly.
It is what it is.
I doubt it's just anti-Philly. Anti-moving. People have lives. Friends, schools, kids' friends. It's a tough sell for a financially secure family to uproot everything for what is going to be at most 2 or 3 more years of a basketball career.

C'mon Sixers.
May have been a fun time for a while, but those are the most brutal jerseys in franchise history. The unis in the '90's through when they finally went back to the classic duds were awful.

The AI era blue unis are so bad but 2000s style choices were heinous so it perfectly fit that era.

Agree. We're going to miss a lot of what he brought to this team.
The down side of signing one guy to a silly max contract is beginning to rear its ugly head. We have half a roster, and a major hole at PF and bench depth that needs to be addressed before this can be considered anything resembling a contender, regardless of Vegas odds. It is a roster of aging and often injured players in very key roles, surrounded by inexperience.
I give Morey credit for the work he has done, but between now and the trade deadline some moves need to be made that plug holes and bring some depth to what is a very thin roster.

Sorry I don’t have the link. I just watched something online. Evidently Dr J was at the meeting last night with Paul George. That’s pretty cool.
I wasn’t aware he was on the payroll if he’s not, he should be!!! Lol

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 4
That's the end of our cap hold situation, right? Melton and Batum the only guys we might've thought about, besides Oubre (already agreed) and Lowry (probably not back or back for vet min so no need for cap hold).
Think that leaves us here:
CAP = 141
Embiid: 51
PG: 49
Oubre: 8
Drummond: 5
Maxey: 13
McCain: 3.5
Bona: 1.5
Cap holds: 6 (or 4 if we keep Reed/Council)
Reed (8)
Council (2)
That puts us little over the cap, unless Oubre's coming via the exception and doens't count for it (not sure how that works). If that's the case we'd still have a decent chunk between that and Reed's unguaranteed. Otherwise this is what we got plus 3-4 more vet mins.

That's true, and this is where Morey really needs to get creative by filling in the remaining roster spots. First, he needs to see what he can get for B-Ball Paul who has officially become redundant now with the Bona pick and Drummond signing in a trade. I think he mostly is who he is at this point which is a backup center with great energy, but is an offensively liability with a low basketball IQ. Second, aside from vet minimum players who want to ring chase, he's gonna have to find some diamonds in the rough aka G leaguers like Ricky Council who will hopefully have a bigger role this season than last.

It funny because the meeting likely had a predetermined outcome. It’s nice to see they put together a solid presentation though.

Too add to that, now that there is a guy who is a great C&S shooter, how do teams do the whole wall defense thing that they have been able to get away with for years while Tobias silently faded away. If we can just get a decent 4 then I think we are in great shape. This is a team that can compete and is going to be really hard for any team to compete with.

I thought somebody just reported that had about $10 million if they waived Reed’s contract. I would assume waiving that contract is a no-brainer, but I think I’m missing something. A few people implied that Reed isn’t counting against the cap, but they can trade him for a player. So I don’t completely get it.

Morey doing everything to C.Y.A. and avoid a tampering charge this off-season

Marks said $9 million after Maxey signing.
