probably the most encouraging tendency of Saric is the way he seems to come through at the end of regulation to at least put us in position to pull some of these games out. obviously it would be helpful if he can improve shot consistency throughout the game from start to finish. but given the wild inconsistencies of our wings, Dario at least adds some much needed stability to our finishing line-up. (now i'm chomping at the bit to add a healthy Fultz to that group to create shots and open up the post for our double teamed bigs, or punish defenders who leave him free.)

He is a winner. Best way to describe it. Best when it matters. He makes winning plays. I cant call him clutch, for that his shot needs to be even better. Thats why i say winning plays. He obviously loves those moments.
I d love to see a stat with his shot percentage rebounds or D rating in last 3-2 minutes of the game. I have a feeling his shot percentage on avg is higher including his d rateing than normaly and id love to see how he stacks up to other players.

Any takeaways from his improved play sans Embiid? My first thought is more touches in positions outside of spotting up has lead to his improved play. Anyone else seeing anything different? Any chance he can continue to keep playing well when Embiid comes back? If we take it back to last year he started to really produce when Embiid went down.

Dario played well in the game, but I did not like seeing Derozan work the switches until he got on Dario. As long as he's on the court during crunch time, we're susceptible to exploitation. He HAS TO find a way to be effective or passable defensively. I understand the length and athleticism shortcomings, but some guys overcome those things and still find a way to be passable defenders. Dario HAS TO follow suit.

I’m not defending Saric but he is what he is, Covington left him open a bunch of times. Covington’s defense has been bad lately, I never saw his great defense like most saw. He played passable defense but that’s just me.

He's a liability on offense and defense. The opposing team exploits him on defense and refuses to come within 4 feet of him when he has the ball.

But he played quite well defensibly this game. DeRosen burned EVERYONE. Saric had a near triple double to boot in a very efficient manner. And he is doing it as a freaking nonathletic sophomore. And you are on his back. What more do you want? I mean You do know if you are nonathletic with all the the things going against him, and you want to be a good defender, it takes knowledge and IQ and efficiency of movement. For all that he needs training and games, for which he needs time. And ill say again he has been in the NBA for 1.5 years.
So instead of being an ever unsatisfied ass, no matter how he plays, understand his youth and be happy about improvements and good games. Aka his progress. Like last game. Or are you not seeing any improvement in his game (every facet of it) since he came into this league? hmm?

Our franchise player can't stay healty
Our future LBJ 2.0 can't shot a jumper
Our third big player can't stay on an NBA floor
Our shooters are shoting 1 for 100 from downtown

....and the main Sixers problem is Dario Saric?

Hopefully saric wants to stay with us. He has all the intangibles you want in a team mate. You can tell he is going to win a lot in his career.

Not the sole reason the Sixers suck...

But you have to admit his defense is a real problem right now. He’s a bit similar to Enes Kanter.

Unfortanately his weakness is going to be the hardest thing for any of the Sixers players to overcome. His lack of athleticism just won’t allow him to be a good defender.

Who actually thinks Saric is a reliable outside shooter? I think his offense is a bit overrated to be honest.

Be nice to have a serge ibaka type at the Sixers.

Makes sense that they would show up in general on a list of players that would have at least 40 isos against them, not that they would do well in those situations (which is what that is a ranking of). Then again, after running it, only 30 players actually qualify for that criteria.

If defending any type of play results in 0.682 ppp then that’s good, regardless of how many qualify or who does.

That was what i kind meant. Since this day and age Isos are not done that much, or rather not nearly as much as before. So when you do it you do it exclusively on "bad defenders". Ergo my replay to the defensive studs comment. But i agree some names on this list and the ranks surprise me. ESPECIALLY Saric. Who i never thought was that bad on D as some of the posters here say, but wasnt that good either. Good for him, it shows he is improving on D.

Obviously. I just naturally question the value of a top-10 defensive ranking that features the likes of Carmelo Anthony and James Harden, and is listed without any context.

If the point of it is just to say that he has been put in those situations a lot by league standard and has done well for himself, ok.

As a guy who is Croatian and therefore watched Dario in many European knockout games I saw how vulnerable he is when opposing teams concentrate their attack against him , so i can allow myself to say he is weak link and best longterm solution for Sixers is to trade him. Trade him for good two way player with less offensive production.

the thing that has impressed me the most is his hustle. if his offensive production was up, especially shooting 3s, then maybe his defensive liability could be masked a little. he's better suited to the 2nd unit.
