That said, I still don't really want him, but he is definitely not as bad of a contract as Tobias. While Tobi was a better defender, he was not able to save us when others were cold. That's the point of a third star. LaVine can do that. Tobi also was always, for better or worse, available while LaVine has been obviously injured recently.
If they were willing to swap 11 for 16 to take LaVine, I'd be listening.
If they were willing to give 11 outright to take LaVine, he should be a Sixer right now.
I'm kinda with you on both. I don't love LaVine, but I do think of him in a similar vein as Julius Randle, former AS who has aspects we need but needs to fall in line with Emiid and Maxey as the stars. I think Randle would be a better pick up because of his rebounding game.

Agreed. Does Lavine/P.Williams/#11 for #16 and a couple seconds work?
always a jump shot away.

If Klay and KCP cost the same and you could only pick one, who would you take?
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:
Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Watford/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 2
Reading between the lines, Paul George is the bottleneck and everything happens after he makes his decision.
If he is opting in, that means he is looking to be traded.
If he opts out, he wants the full four years from the Clippers or he walks.
Looks like we’ve got Embiid-Maxey-Lowry locked up. I kind of like the idea of getting assets for taking Randle or Lavine’s contract.

So you’re taking on 120 million for the next 3 seasons and completely making sure you’ll never be a real competitor during Embiid’s tenure … just to move up to 11??? Who’s available then? MJ?

Agreed. No way we can take on someone like Randle (or Lavine) after we just witnessed how Tobias killed us for half a decade.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 2
Marc Stein's latest.
To summarize:
-He tried to ask around about the origin of the Shams report and he couldn't pin it down. He's still of the belief if Paul George is available, the Sixers will pursue him.
-Said there's talk around the league of the Magic and Sixers making a run at KCP.
-Said the Sixers will likely explore trades for Ingram and Butler if Butler is made available. Also mentioned DeRozan as a possibility, though Morey prefers players who can shoot the 3.
-Said Lowry is expected by NBA teams to re-sign with the Sixers, but will be pursued by the Clippers.

I hear that Ime Udoka and the Rockets are trying to pry Marcus Smart from the Grizzlies.
If we're gearing up to try to take down the Celtics, he'd be the most motivated guy to help us do so.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 2
So Paul George or Zach LaVine then. At one point Brandon Ingram was shooting 6 threes per game when he got to NOP. However I think he was given more responsibilities to be an on ball scorer (because they couldn't ever pull in a PG or lead ball handler) and his 3PA took a nose dive. Shot 39% and 38% in the two years of shooting volume threes. If he could get back to that type of player, then he's definitely interesting.

Both Marcus Smart and KCP are currently .500+ 3PAr guys that play defense.
Embiid and Maxey flanked by Oubre, Smart, Caldwell-Pope is a strong 5-man unit.

Any noise on what the price for Smart would be? I'd be very in favor of Smart assuming the price is right.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

I'd assume pick #16 would get it done.
Rockets want him but don't seem willing to give up pick #3 for him (too valuable).

Why are they getting rid of Smart? They haven't even had him while the team was whole.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 2
Smart is one of the few players that doesn't shoot the three ball well that i'd welcome with open arms, just because I feel like his willingness to take them still contributes to good offense in totality. He's a very good (not elite) and creative passer especially off the dribble going downhill, has always impressed me his ability to make quick advanced reads - and his defense and hustle speaks for itself.
One of the more ideal backcourt partners for Maxey and he and Embiid would build great synergy quicky.
If he's a 4th/5th starter here than our S5 is damn good.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 2
Ingram at least shoots more 3s than Butler and Derozan. If he waives his trade kicker, we’d still have roughly $28 mil to play with (assuming #16 goes out). Could sign KCP or Klay with that plus a starting PF. Oubre with the exception and vet mins to fill out.
Maxey/Lowry
Klay/Oubre
Ingram/Batum
Smith/Saric

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 2
Was listening to the rights to Ricky recent podcast and they were saying that the sixers probably put out the report that aren’t interest is waning in PG because:
(1) we may already know that he doesn’t want to sign with us and we this is a PR move or we aren’t sure if we wants to sign and we are signaling to his camp, he needs to give us more of an indication so we know what we’re doing;
And (2) it lets other teams know we are open for business with trades and won’t necessarily just wait for FA to hit.
