Nothing will change until he shoots above 30% from 3. Teams will still sag off and dare him to shoot.

They give him plenty of space in the mid-range and long-range-2-pointer too, so its not all about the 3-pointer
Many of the best slashers in NBA history were 30% 3-point-shooters.

Buy or sell?
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Hold. Honestly the form looks worse but I like the confidence. Is is me or in the first shot does it look like perfect right handed form and then he shoots it with his left hand? I hope someone is working on the form.

But he looks confident and he is taking shots....so I have to ask.
Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?

It's perfect form if he shot right handed. He's shooting it and shooting it with confidence. However, I feel like the conversion to shooting righty would be so smooth. Doesn't matter, the league is still ****. Imagine getting your ass whooped by a guy that can't figure out what hand to use?

Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part III
is it just me or does his elbow tuck in as he releases the ball
hear me out, correct me if i'm wrong but his elbow flares out as he's jumping but as he motions to shoot, it starts to tuck in to the point byt the time he releases it's still not straight, but nowhere near as untucked as a lot of some of the infamous elbow flaring photo-still shots that we've seen of his form?

Those must be Los Angeles Phillies shorts that he's wearing.

Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part III
There's some stills from the video floating around on twitter and it really looks like he's about to shoot right handed on the first jumper. The results are what matters, but it seems like he has to be moving to his left to be really comfortable with it.

Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part III
This is all really kind of meaningless and leaves me frustrated that the season is so far away.
I want to see him doing this with Embiid in the post asking for the ball... with Tobias waiting to catch and shoot.... with Al Horford posting up and Josh Richardson standing next to him wanting to shoot it.
That's the real test. Does Ben have the mental fortitude to take a jumper regularly when other guys are asking for the ball and are all scorers. Is an Alpha like Embid who wants the offense built around him and wants the ball... going to be ok with Ben shooting it on top of driving it to the rim and his usage rate going up. Like it or not the reality is that Simmons is the 5th option out there when it comes to scoring and his main avenue is still driving to the basket and why not he is damn good at it.
Maybe I am pessimistic but when it comes to the crunch in a game I don't see Ben taking a jumper when he is open 10 seconds into an offense like all of the other players would.

Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part III
On the latest video the form could be better on a few and it does look like he's fighting the urge to twist the ball on release at times but guys, his shot is not gonna be perfect overnight, is it? It's gonna take a few years to get to where he wants it to be long term from a mechanics pov but what's vastly improved is his spring, confidence and release (on occasions) so we just have to hope he continues to put those reps in. The fact that he's hitting threes, midrange, off the dribble and pull-ups is very encouraging indeed (you don't see Giannis doing all of that for example). It's just a matter of putting In hard work now and listening to the shooting coaches.

Agreed with what's been said, really just seeing him take the shots is great.

You know with his shooting nothing really matters, everyone can see, nothing really matters, nothing really matters to me except the regular season.

the good thing is that ben's a guy who needs no sympathy. because he's easy come easy go. little high, little low. anyway the wind blows doesn't really matter to him.
...man how much longer until fiba? i need some basketball...

Sorry to say it out loud, but there's no way he'll become respectable shooter with such bad mechanics.

Bad mechanics? Below the wrists it looks like Kyle Korver's form.
