The ideal lineup imo would be:

Maxey/McCain
Grimes/VJ
Edwards/Oubre
George/?
Embiid/Bona

That’s dependent on Edwards locking down the starting spot in camp/preseason. I’d hope that VJ gradually takes over the starting spot from Grimes. The mocks are all over the place for who will be available at 35 but I’d hope that we can grab someone capable winning minutes at PF in the rotation. Our guards and wings look solid but the frontcourt is a huge question mark with Embiid’s health and questionable depth.

Probably Oubre with Maxey and Grimes. He’s the longest dude and defends pretty well.

McCain, Edgecombe, and Edwards is the right amount of length and defense for the second team.

Does VJ start over Grimes at 2?
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

I assumed that but probably not. Based off contracts it’ll probably be

Maxey / McCain
Grimes / VJ
Oubre / Edwards
PG
Embiid / Bona

It’s a shame Oubre can’t shoot league average from 3 because his slashing and defense are solid.

PHLY just did a mock draft and they selected Tre Johnson with our pick. Hope that's how the real draft goes.

We might have to draft Adou Thiero with the 35th pick and start him immediately.

With all these rumors about moving up to two, would they even be allowed to announce that if Spurs did accept it? We owe OKC our 2026 pick. We can’t trade the 2025 pick. So we would have to trade a drafted player. Would Shams even waste his time announcing that we have an agreement to move up to 2? Wouldn’t that be against league rules some how?

Grimes is not getting paid all this cash to not be a starter.

Maxey
Grimes
Johnson/VJ
George
Embiid
always a jump shot away.

If Tre's our guy, hopefully we can swing a trade back, say with Utah for #5 and #21. It sounds too clean, but it'd be really nice.

Probably have your pick of Rasheer Fleming or Cedric Coward, maybe Thomas Sorber as a defensive anchor.

Long are the days of our defense being Joel Embiid + a prayer carrying us to a top 10 unit. He desperately needs his Aaron Gordon to Nikola Jokic, or his Brook Lopez to Giannis Antetokounmpo.

VJ and Thiero in the same draft would be such an enormous injection of athleticism into the roster. A second unit with VJ, Thiero, and Bona would be electric - a bunch of high motor freak athletes running amok.

I have a feeling Cedric Coward is going top ten next week.

I still say, and will continue to say until it’s no longer a possibility, having the shot creation/shooting of Maxey, McCain, Johnson and Grimes from the G spots would be sick and unmatched by any team in the league. This team would literally have exceptional shooting on the floor for a full 48 minutes. That would overwhelm teams.

Now, I understand the defensive concerns, but all 4 won’t be playing at the same time. Besides, Grimes is a plus defender. Oubre is a plus defender. Maxey is adequate and improving. McCain could improve, but he’s strong and tries hard. Johnson, well we’ll see. PG is a plus defender and Joel should be.

It would be exciting until they try to hit a shot. Then it will be brick city.

We might be talking backboard shattering atomic bombing then if Ace ever stepped into the Camden complex.

Thank god for the sake of the community he chose otherwise!

How much do you think Grimes is getting? I don’t see him getting starter money. That would be over $20mil per.

Grimes is definitely starting, regardless of whether he gets $15m or $20m/yr.

Grimes haters and naysayers better get their licks in now. He was damn good last year and will be a very valuable starter for us.

The offense should go through Maxey and Grimes going forward.
