McCain does strike me as a player who would perform better when the collective IQ on the court is higher. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was genuinely standing out.

Is it possible that since its training camp, the less the the player has a role locked up, the harder they're going to try and subsequently look better than those who do?

Granted I would say he's in the same group as KJ Martin, Bona, Yabuselle, and RC4.

I assume he's being Morey's mouthpiece, trying to up the kid's trade value. Hey, if Troy Weaver still has a job somewhere, it's worth a shot.

I don't know why it's unbelievable to think that a young guy known for his competitiveness and work ethic would outperform a bunch of vets going 30% with nothing to prove.

I'd be happy if the Colangelos never got anywhere near the NBA ever again.

They don't deserve a redemption arc.

Bryan has already had three teams, and would never be trusted by ownership or players ever again.

His NBA exec career is over.

He can make money on the lecture circuit where all the best grifters are.

That's crazy. The kid really has GOAT potential.

He's probably going to have one of two major injuries and it won't happen, but the potential is there.

Also Luka being on of the most efficient while taking 5x more than anybody else is also ridicolous. If he was in shape he would be by far the best player in the NBA.

Im guessing McCain will have a lot of playing time this preseason, so we’ll see.

If Embiid was in shape and healthy he would be.

We’re a contender. Why are we playing against this team from New Zealand?

The Okafor pick was so **** brutal, and everyone knew it before it happened. Sam's one big f***kup, and I don't buy that he had no other options.

Damn, if the Okafor trade to the Celtics happens and the Fultz trade doesn't, how different is the last 7-8 years?

I think if Porzingis, Brown, and/or Tatum were Sixers they’d somehow get injured, forget how to shoot, or break down mentally. It’s too eerie that Joel is the only one that thrived here.

Whatever happened, Miller didn't make it easy for Philadelphia to draft Porzingis at No. 3. The Sixers wouldn't be afforded Porzingis' physical, nor get a private workout, nor even a face-to-face meeting. After most of the pro day executives cleared out of the gym in Vegas in mid-June, 76ers general manager Sam Hinkie lingered to meet with Miller. Hinkie stopped him in the lobby area and asked Miller about a chance to sit down and visit with Porzingis.

"You said that I would get a meeting with him here," Hinkie told Miller.

"I said, 'I'd try,' and it's not going to work out, Sam," Miller responded.

An awkward silence lingered, the GM and agent, standing and staring. The Porzingis camp wanted no part of the Sixers' situation at No 3. Miller couldn't stop Philadelphia from drafting Porzingis, but he could limit the information they had to make a decision. And did. No physical. No meeting. No workout. The Sixers passed on Porzingis on draft night, clearing the way for the Knicks to select him.

I don't fault the Fultz *pick*. Nobody had a crystal ball, and for the most part people thought he was going to be good. But the trade was beyond stupid. He wasn't a can't-miss generational talent. He was never worth two first-round picks, and the fact is he probably would've dropped to us anyway.

I didn't watch much college basketball that year, but I did watch De'Aaron Fox and Kentucky vs Lonzo Ball and UCLA. Fox was by far the best player that game, but Lonzo was projected as a top 3 pick. Everybody said Fox couldn't shoot, but he came in and was immediately the fastest player in the league. Is he still? He's worked out great, even though he isn't enough to get his team to contender status. At any rate, I wouldn't have had the nerve to buck conventional wisdom and take Fox at #3, but I would've rather traded down for Fox than up for Fultz, even at the time.

Fultz flaming out was dumb bad luck. The trade up to #1 was just dumb. On the bright side, the extra pick we wasted turned into Romeo Langford, who didn't work out. And Fultz got traded for the pick that turned into Maxey.
